About Us
The Butchart Gardens began in 1904 as the private garden surrounding the home of Mr. & Mrs. R. P. Butchart. The Gardens are still maintained by the family and today comprise several major gardens, covering 55 acres of a 130 acre estate. This world famous tourist attraction, designated as a National Historic Site, has grown to become a premier West Coast garden with an international reputation for its year round beauty. The Gardens are open every day of the year however the height of the tourism season usually spans March to October and then again in December for the Christmas. The Gardens attract over a million visitors a year from all over the world and provides an exciting workplace with exposure to cultural and ethnic diversity.
