Kootenay Rockies Tourism is looking for an experienced and passionate professional to join our team.

Kootenay Rockies Tourism Association Kootenay Rockies Tourism (KRT) is a not-for-profit society governed by the BC Societies Act. We are one of five Regional Destination Management Organizations working on behalf of the tourism sector to support and advance the sustainable tourism economy. KRT provides a critical link between the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport, the Crown Corporation Destination BC, municipalities, community DMOs, tourism businesses, Indigenous communities and businesses as well as not-for-profit organizations that are invested in the tourism economy in this region. 

POSITION SUMMARY

The role of Bookkeeper will be filled by a highly organized and experienced individual to ensure that all bookkeeping duties are completed efficiently, accurately and delivered with high quality and in a timely manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Experience in running a full cycle, small business accounting system such as SAGE, including but not limited to: AR/AP, Invoicing, Payroll, Gov’t Remittances, Banking, Account Reconciliations, Payroll, Financial Statements, Reports, Chart of Accounts, Employee Benefit program and RRSP contributions, provide T4s and T4A
• Prepare monthly reports for review with the CEO and department Directors, assist with the budgeting process
• Prepare reports for the organizations Finance Committee to review and present to the Board
• Ensure compliance with the Society Act requirements
• Prepare materials at year end for the external auditor to conduct the annual audit

EDUCATION:

• Diploma in Business Administration/Accounting or Equivalent Accounting/Business Administration Certificate

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum three (3) years accounting experience with Sage Accounting System
• Have experience supporting other departments and team members
• Have experience in maintaining confidential information

SPECIFIC SKILLS:

• Advanced proficiency with Sage bookkeeping software program and willingness to keep up-to-date on these skills
• Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills
• Ability to work independently, and as part of a team
• Effective communication and verbal skills
• Exceptional time-management skills; detail and deadline oriented
• High proficiency in MS Office, with a strong focus on Excel

SPECIAL REQUIRMENTS:

• Hold Canadian Citizenship or have Permanent Residency
• Able to work when needed in the Kimberley office
• Position is 2-3 days/week

• Salary/Wage: Commensurate with experience
