The Westbank Museum, located at 2376 Dobbin Road, West Kelowna, BC., is seeking an Artifact Cataloguing and Digitization Intern.
Along with the Museum Coordinator the intern will work through the museum’s collection updating its cataloguing records. With this project the Westbank Museum will be better able to share its artifacts, records, and documents to a wider audience. The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to transform how we manage our collections and create a pathway that will enable us to better serve those who seek the information that we store. They will also enjoy the opportunity to explore the thousands of unique and interesting historic artifacts, documents, and photos in the museum’s collection.
The successful candidate will have a passion and enthusiasm for archival, cataloguing, and/or heritage work. This is a full-time, 35 hours a week, 18-week (4 month) position that will see the intern assuming the responsibility to coordinate, participate, facilitate, and work with professionals, as well as research and write up historical information. Due to this contract extending over the holiday season the successful intern will have two weeks off during which time the museum is closed.
This position will be offered at $17.00 per hour beginning 14 November 2022, or sooner depending on the skills and experience of the candidate. The final day of employment will be 31 March 2023.
The position is open to university graduates with preference given to those with master’s degree or higher.

• be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment (minimum 30 hours a week).
• not have another full-time job while employed in a YCW job.
• are unemployed or underemployed;
• are a college or university graduate; and
• are not receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits while employed with the program.
Note: Priority will be given to graduates that have not previously participated in YCW internship programs.

Our mission is to be a cultural centre for the community and provide a repository dedicated to the ongoing collection, preservation, and interpretation of Westbank and the surrounding areas' history. As a small museum, we get to work closely with our community, our donors, and our collections.
We also function as West Kelowna's visitor centre. In this role, we provide those visiting our community and locals alike with memorable experiences. Our visitor services counsellors get to be ambassadors of our area.
