Duties and Responsibilities:
· Actively follow established maintenance programs for all Lodge buildings and associated equipment, as well as Lodge vehicles
· To assist in monitoring/controlling costs for labour, materials, and equipment
· To assist in hiring, scheduling, discipline, and training of Maintenance staff under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and Hotel Manager
· To assist in preparation of schedule, ensuring staff shifts are allocated in a fair and equitable manner, and provide the hours required for retention of staff
· To actively participate in regular staff meetings and communication sessions
· To provide Maintenance Manager and Hotel Manager with ongoing communication in the event of performance issues, and to notify HR right away with respect to incident reports
· To ensure staff is fully trained in emergency and power outage procedures
· To assign daily tasks, routine work, and repair orders
· To assist with the completion of all short and long-term projects in accordance to deadlines
· To assist with ensuring proper working conditions of all equipment, and maintain all necessary licenses
· Completing boiler, hot tub, generator, sewage treatment plant, and water treatment plant checks on a regular basis. Analyze results of daily checks, interpreting results, and implementing remedies
· To work hands-on with the rest of the Maintenance team, assisting with equipment fixes, addressing guest room issues, dealing with any heat issues, drywall repair, painting, and other daily maintenance duties
· To maintain highest standards in winter snow removal, assisting by equipment or by hand when required
· Material transport, as required
· Assis with overseeing Occupational Health & Safety for Maintenance team, and to ensure WHMIS compliance
· Ensure Maintenance Building and all related areas are clean, tidy, organized, and follow Health & Safety standards
· Participate in ongoing communication with all Departments to provide a cohesive team at the Lodge
· To sign in when shifts begin and sign out when they end
· Cover shifts for others on the schedule when necessary and be on site for emergencies and when contractors are present
· To attend all lodge meetings when necessary to represent the department
· To participate in cost savings, capital expenditures and to complete all necessary paperwork
· Arrive on time and groomed appropriately, observing dress code including appropriate footwear, as per CRMR Employee Handbook
· Other duties, as required
· Assist other departments, as needed
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Highly organized and detail oriented, with the ability to multitask
Must have a full valid drivers license and a clean driving record
· Able to cope in high pressure situations
· Previous hotel experience an asset
· · Must be willing to work all shifts (AM, PM, and mid-shifts)
· Must possess relevant trade qualified certificate in either electrical/plumbing/carpentry/HVAC; or, certification in power engineering (4th or 5th class); or, two years of maintenance experience
· Willing to be a hands-on Manager, with very little time spent in an office (80% of the time is spent on day-to-day tasks, approximately 20% is spend on scheduling, preparing parts inventories, purchase orders, etcetera)
· Must be able to work independently and remain calm in the event of an emergency
· Must be familiar with operating firefighting systems
· Must know how to work safely with chemicals
· Must know how to work safely with power equipment
