Duration: May 1, 2023 – September 5/30, 2023 (seasonal)* & potential training date April 26
Hours: Part-Time & Full-Time, 10-35 hours per week
Compensation: $15.65/hr or $18.00/hr

What you’ll do:
We are looking for Beach Hut Staff to join our energetic and outdoor-loving team! This position works under the leadership of our Beach Hut Supervisor to ensure that our lesson and rental customers for windsurfing, skimboarding and stand-up paddling have the most fun and safe experience before, on, and off the water. They also help to support our summer camp programs running smoothly. We have full time and part-time positions available starting as early as May 1st 2023 and ending September 30th 2023 with potential paid training days throughout April and May. This position also comes with an opportunity to work as a Shift-Lead when the supervisor is not on site. The Shift-Lead will be the decision maker in the Beach Hut to keep operations running smoothly. While working as a Shift-Lead, the pay rate changes to $18/hour. Candidates for this opportunity will be determined after hiring.
Some examples of the daily tasks of our Beach Hut Staff include:
Perform customer service and administrative tasks relating to the coordination of equipment rentals and lesson facilitation in a safe, timely, professional and friendly manner. This may include online scheduling, providing assistance over the phone or in person and coordinating with groups/ customers, sizing for and prepare equipment
Processing and verifying payments using a back-end booking system or point-of-sales system
As needed, prepare, maintain and repair equipment and designated storage area and complete inventory tracking
Respond to emergency situations and injuries with confidence and calm
Provide short demos to first time rentals with regards to proper sport technique and safety
Support the overarching needs of lessons, camp programs and staff on water and land (supervision) through communication between these teams and with supervisor
Assist in regularly cleaning and sanitizing the service area as per COVID-19 protocols
Potentially assist with lessons if needed
Shift Lead: Perform basic leadership duties while the Supervisor is away to ensure smooth operations.
You’re a good fit if you:
Love being outside and active, especially on the water
Know how to create memorable customer experiences
Are proficient in one or more of our watersports (not required but the more, the better)
Have an understanding and/or curiosity of race, gender, BIPOC, LGBTQ2SIA+ and climate justice issues and are committed to creating safe community spaces
What we need:
Some experience with and passion for watersports (recreational)
Communication & teamwork skills
Coachable & curious
Able to lift and carry minimum 50 lbs
Pleasure Craft Operating Card (PCOC) or willingness to get it
Valid First Aid Training (OFA Level 1 or Equivalent) or willingness to get it
Valid Criminal Record Check or willingness to get one
Able to work in Canada
Fully vaccinated
Weekend and evening availability - please do not apply if not
