Position: Beach Hut Supervisor
Location: Windsure Adventure Watersports at Jericho Beach, Vancouver BC
Duration: May 1, 2023 – September 5, 2023 (seasonal) + potential training dates April 18 & 26, 2023.
Hours: Full Time, Dynamic schedule, 40 hrs/week. approx 11-7:30 5 days a week, minimum two weekends per month
Compensation: $3250/month

What you’ll do:
We are looking for a Beach Hut Supervisor to join our energetic and outdoor-loving team! This position works with the General Manager and Summer Camps Program Supervisor to ensure that all rental and lesson operations run smoothly. Providing leadership to the team when on site, the Beach Hut Supervisor is the lead customer service connection point, knowing the answers to all customer FAQs and beyond. They demonstrate excellence in service to the team and are always up to date with program, schedule, staffing, and health & safety changes. With the support of the General Manager, they are responsible for ensuring that all on-shift team members’ knowledge is up to date, and that they feel supported to do their jobs.
Some examples of the daily tasks of a Beach Hut Supervisor would include:
Perform customer service and administrative tasks relating to the coordination of equipment rentals and lesson facilitation (scheduling, answering emails, training staff, coordinating with groups/ customers) in a friendly manner and provide leadership and support to other team members carrying out these tasks
Execute and supervise the coordination of equipment rental for windsurfing, stand up paddling and skimboarding gear in a safe and professional manner, including sanitizing equipment between each use
Help to develop and lead training for all Beach Hut Staff
Scheduling team members and managing schedule change requests
Support the needs of lessons, camp programs and staff on water and land (supervision) through communication between these teams
Ensure that all team members who require knowledge of activities related to equipment rentals do have adequate knowledge of such. This may include but is not limited to: safety precautions and requirements, equipment function, basic technique, effective customer service approaches.
Maintain and repair equipment and designated storage area, complete inventory tracking, and teach other team members to do so when required.
Respond to emergency situation and injuries
Operate rescue boat (Pleasure Craft Operating Card required) as necessary to perform rescues
Continuously educate on and uphold COVID-19 protocols to both team members and guests
Complete reports for each supervisory shift
Attend and contribute to weekly leadership meetings
As necessary, assist instructing occasional lessons
Complete other special projects and tasks in shoulder months (May/September) and quiet times. These may include but not be limited to: assist in scheduling, update policies and training materials, content creation (photography, videography, editing), social media management, organizing and cleaning operating space, learning and completing equipment maintenance and repairs

Love being outside and active, especially on the water
Are proficient in one or more of our watersports (the more, the better)
Know how to create memorable customer experience
Have an understanding and/or curiosity of race, gender, BIPOC, LGBTQ2SIA+ and climate justice issues and are committed to creating safe community spaces
Are seeking a role to grow your leadership skills
What we’re looking for:
Education and/or experience in the outdoor recreation and tourism industry
Experience leading a team, specifically youth
Passion for and experience teaching windsurfing, skimboarding and SUP
Experience using cloud-based booking software
Able to lift and carry minimum 50 lbs
Pleasure Craft Operating Card (PCOC) or willingness to get it
Valid First Aid Training (OFA Level 1 or Equivalent) or willingness to get it
Valid Criminal Record Check or willingness to get one
Able to work in Canada
Fully vaccinated
