Kumsheen is looking for a Breakfast Cook this season to join our team of energetic, adventurous, and friendly staff. This is a great opportunity to work & live in one of the most beautiful areas in BC, at an incredible family-run adventure resort.
About the position:
The Breakfast Cook will work under the overall direction of the Head Chef and oversee all breakfast operations in Kumsheen’s Cutting Board Restaurant. The Cutting Board Restaurant provides a friendly atmosphere, remarkable food, and memorable service to our resort guests.
In a typical year, the Cutting Board Restaurant seats 60 indoors and has a seasonal patio that seats another 60 guests. It is a full-service restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, catering primarily to resort guests and secondarily to the general public in summer months
In May, June, and September, service is largely pre-booked banquet style meals for large groups (Dry-Grads, Corporate, etc.). During the peak season, (mid-June until mid-September), service is a limited à la carte menu and some banquet-style meals for large groups
Key responsibilities include:
Lead cook for all breakfast service operations including a prep and execution of buffet-style menu in the shoulder season, and a la carte menu in the main season
Directing and supervising prep cooks and other back-of-house staff
Consistently producing food in keeping with resort standards
Maintaining kitchen hygiene values and adhering to Health & Safety guidelines as well as all Covid-19 safety measures & requirements
Prepare baked goods and “grab-and-go” items for the Reception Office’s coffee bar, as needed
Provide supply and grocery lists to the Head Chef as required
Provide staffing requirements, comments, and updates to the Head Chef as required
Maintain a clean, organized, and well stocked kitchen
Be friendly and outgoing with positive communication skills and patience

The successful applicant will possess the following:
Previous commercial kitchen experience
Supervisory experience preferred
Receptive to feedback
Able to work well individually and as part of a team
Great interpersonal and communication skills
Positive attitude and attention to detail
Willing to work flexible work hours
FOODSAFE Level 1 Certificate required (must be obtained before start date)
