Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications and Marketing Coordinator combines proven skills and project management experience to manage the planning and implementation of the extensive communications and marketing needs of Nelson and Kootenay Lake Tourism. The Communications and Marketing Coordinator, develops, implements and evaluates strategic multi-year marketing and communications strategies to market and promote our region, campaigns and NKLT members initiatives to diverse audiences using appropriate methodologies and channels.
Role duties and responsibilities:
Project management:
● Project management of a wide range of projects and initiatives within NKLT, it’s members, partners, government and the public
● Assess characteristics of a project, campaign or initiative to be promoted to determine marketing and advertising needs of NKLT and its members
● Develop and organize events and programs for publicity and information purposes in support of NKLT and its members initiatives
● Manage post campaign analysis to measure and report on marketing and advertising metrics
Communications and Marketing:
● Develop strategies, campaigns and related content for direct, print and digital marketing and advertising campaigns and implement them
● Draft, edit and publish written communications materials in a variety of formats for multiple audiences across varied platforms
● Maintain and improve NKLT’s online presence via the website, app, articles and newsletter, seeking new opportunities and developing content to reach audiences digitally
● Develop, implement and evaluate public relations strategies and programs designed to inform NKLT members, employees and the general public of initiatives and policies of businesses, governments and other organizations
● Works closely with the Design & Marketing Coordinator and other team members to develop and implement digital engagement strategies, providing written copy and concepts for the design of print brochures/leaflets and other digital material
● Conduct public and member surveys to identify the interests and collect data from key groups served by NKLT
Media:
● Coordinate and host special publicity events, promotions and media visits in the NKLT region
● Prepare reports, briefs, presentations and press releases
● Arrange interviews, news conferences and other media events
● Act as spokesperson for the organization, answer written and oral inquiries and liaise with local media publications
Role Benefits
● 32 hour per week
● Competition salary of $48,000 per annum
● Extended health and dental benefits scheme available after 3 months of full-time employment
● 2 weeks of paid vacation per year after first year of employment
Skills required:
● University degree in tourism, marketing, communications, arts or related field
● 3+ years of experience working in the tourism sector
● 3+ years of project management experience
● High level of written and verbal communication skills with an excellent proficiency in English
● Be residing in, or be willing to move to, the Nelson and Kootenay Lake Region
