Position: Event Housekeeping Supervisor

Department: Event Services

Reports to: Manager, Housekeeping

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Event Supervisors are responsible for supervising and supporting part-time housekeeping staff and ensuring all housekeeping work during events is completed efficiently and effectively. This is a part-time, hourly, events-based position. 

• Supervise Event Housekeeping employees, providing support in the delivery of exceptional service to every guest who enters Rogers Arena
• Monitor floor traffic and staff deployments
• Create a positive work environment for staff by providing ongoing coaching, recognition, and feedback to ensure operational success and excellence
• Serve the needs of the guests and make necessary operational decisions to ensure guests receive direct, personable service and immediate results
• Supervise an assigned area in the building to ensure effective crowd management
• Communicate appropriate event incidents and reports to Duty Managers
• Respond to guest problems and questions, ensuring appropriate action is taken by the staff
• Recommend improvements and new suggestions for current operations
• Communicate with other operations groups to ensure event and guest needs are met
• Maintain knowledge of safety and emergency procedures
• Conduct annual performance reviews and ongoing performance management
• Assist with the onboarding of new employees
• Participate in Supervisor Team meetings to identify ideas, processes, systems, and information that would assist the Supervisor Team in continually improving the Company’s efforts to achieve 100% employee and customer satisfaction

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Several years’ supervisory experience in the hospitality industry, including experience in hiring, motivating, coaching, and directing a group of unionized employees
• Experience in the housekeeping industry is preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction; able to respond promptly and effectively to customer’s needs
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively and professionally with a diverse customer base (i.e. the public, senior management, staff, business partners, promoters, team personnel, etc.)
• Strong communication skills, with the confidence and ability to address a group of and clearly present information to staff at briefings
• Excellent problem solving and crisis management skills
• Physically able to walk up and down stairs, stand for a significant portion of the shift, work in a crowded and noisy environment, and use a radio
• Must be at least 19 years of age as may have to take liquor away from guests
• Presence in the form of personal authority and maturity
• Confident, friendly, approachable, outgoing, team player; able to gain the confidence and trust of management, colleagues, direct reports
• General knowledge of cleaning chemicals and practices, as well as emergency cleaning procedures is preferred
• Successful completion of customer service training (e.g. SuperHost) is an asset
• First Aid Certificate is an asset
• WHMIS Training is preferred
• Housekeeping/Cleaning Certifications is an asset
