The Pacific National Exhibition is an iconic institution in BC, famous for bringing generations of people together to celebrate and build memories. This 114-year-old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of over $70 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams: the 15-day annual summer Fair and winter Fair which average more than 700,000 people annually, Playland amusement park which welcomes 400,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, and a busy year-round portfolio of events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events. In total we bring over 2 million people through the site each year. The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance. We are looking for talented individuals to join our PNE Grounds Maintenance Team and ensure all areas of the Playland site, including public-access locations in buildings and rides, are maintained in a clean and debris-free manner. The Foreperson I, Playland Grounds Maintenance will provide support to the Grounds Maintenance team to ensure site cleanliness standards are being adhered to.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

What will you do this year?

In your role as a Foreperson I, your primary accountabilities will be to:
-Create a memorable guest experience by providing a clean and debris-free environment.
-Ensure that the Playland buildings, equipment, and grounds are maintained to park standards.
-Ensure washrooms are kept clean and stocked to align with park standards.
-Ensure that waste receptacles, tables, and grounds are kept clean and debris-free.
-Monitor and provide guidance to Grounds Maintenance team members, relaying challenges to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.
-Carry and respond to radio calls.
-Assist guests in a friendly manner to provide site information.
-Adhere to PNE policies and guidelines.
-Perform other related duties as required.

What else?
-Previous experience in a Janitorial capacity is required.
-Previous experience in a supervisory capacity is considered an asset.
-Sufficient physical strength, stamina, and coordination to permit the performance of assigned tasks.
-Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
-Knowledge of materials, methods, and cleaning tools used in janitorial/site clean-up work.
-Ability to interact with guests in a courteous and professional manner.
-Ability to work variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and weekdays from April through October.
-Must be available to work a minimum of 4 shifts per week.
-Successful candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check.

Salary/Wage
