Mt Seymour is Vancouver’s family owned and operated ski area delivering a relaxed West Coast feel only 30 minutes drive from downtown Vancouver. We offer a variety of recreation activities including skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, summer camps and activities. We are currently recruiting for a Heavy-Duty Mechanic Shop Foreman to join our operations Department and oversee the operation of our Resort vehicle maintenance shop. This is a hands-on position that oversees and performs all routine and preventative maintenance on all Mt Seymour’s vehicles and machinery including loaders, graders, snow cats, snowplows, snow mobiles, light and heavy-duty trucks, school buses, and shuttle buses. 

Responsibilities:

• To uphold Mount Seymour’s Core Values.
• Assist in hiring, training, and evaluating the work performance of Vehicle Maintenance Department employees.
• Work with the Maintenance Manager to organize a preventative maintenance, inventory and record keeping system.
• Help manage/monitor inventories as they relate to maintenance areas, tools, and equipment.
• To identify and prioritize vehicle and equipment maintenance requirements.
• To oversee all vehicle/equipment maintenance procedures and improvements as required.
• To assist with and oversee all maintenance and repairs on the fleet of Snow Cats.
• To ensure that all manufacturer’s guidelines and government regulations regarding vehicle maintenance and repair are followed.
• Shipping and receiving of materials as required.
• Maintaining records regarding maintenance work performed, materials used, quality and cost control.
• To ensure a high standard in all finished work, while remaining cost effective.
• Responsible for thorough record keeping and the reporting of equipment status including but not limited to work performed.
• To help oversee the work of a Heavy-Duty Mechanic’s Apprentice.
• Ensure all health and safety regulations are followed when performing tasks.
• Report and rectify any unsafe acts
• To ensure the vehicle maintenance building and surrounding area is kept clean, safe, organized, and presentable.
• Help establish and follow the maintenance budget.
• To assist the Mountain Operations department and other departments on Mount Seymour as required.
• Other Duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Must hold an Inter-Provincial Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman’s ticket or equivalent.
• Experience with Snow Cats preferred.
• A minimum of 4 years previous experience as a ticked Heavy Duty Mechanic with working knowledge of other related trades.
• Strong interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with managers, supervisors, and co-workers.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to provide timely and high-quality service to maximize guest and employee experiences.
• The ability to work well under pressure in a high-volume environment.
• Ability to coach and supervise an apprentice.
• Ability to take direction and work with minimal supervision.
• Willing and able to work in all weather conditions while performing labour intensive duties.
• Ability to be a supportive team member.
• Available to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

This is a full-time year-round permanent position working in our Vehicle Maintenance shop, which is located on Mt
Seymour, due to this location candidates will require their own vehicle to travel to and from work.

During the winter operating season, December to April we operate with 2 shifts each day, an AM shift and a PM shift covering 7 days a week, working 5 days per week with 2 days off including weekends and stat days.

During the Non-Operating Season, May to November this position adjusts to work 4 ten-hour days – Monday to
Friday with 3 days off each week.
