Job Description:
Whistler Sliding Centre is a world-class bobsleigh, skeleton and luge facility for athletes of all levels, and a legacy venue of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Public visitors can try the sports in unique passenger bobsleigh and public skeleton rides. Aspiring athletes and recreational participants from novice to advanced level can learn to slide in sport programs in luge, skeleton and bobsleigh. As we are a non-profit organization, all proceeds from public programs go directly towards growing sport and supporting sliding athletes.
Lead, Sport and Guest Services provides daily leadership to the team who are the first point of contact for participants in all Whistler Sliding Centre programs. This role primarily functions as a member of the Guest Service team with the additional responsibility of leading the team. Temporary Full Time role requires flexibility to work weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Manager and Supervisor, assist to execute Guest Service team job-specific training
- Guide and lead the Guest Service team through daily activities and provide consistent communication
- Foster a strong culture of health & safety; work with Human Resources and Safety to ensure all WorkSafeBC and BC Safety Authority requirements are met; ensure that a strong relationship exists between the venue and the regulatory bodies and that all certification requirements are and continue to be met within the functional area
- Use a Point-of-Sale system to process track fees, rides, and merchandise payments and process end of day cash reconciliation
- Track and submit invoices to Finance for processing
- Record track statistics and forward athlete run data to Finance for billing purposes
- Monitor merchandise inventory and request reordering from Supervisor
- Track weekly run and revenue totals and generate reports for Manager, Guest Services
- Greet visitors (athletes, coaches, public), and assist them to register for the product/service of their choice (e.g. assist athletes with sign-in process; assist the general public with the purchase of appropriate tour and/or ride products)
- Facilitate sport user group registration including processing fees and documentation as required
- Operate hardware/software to produce/edit video creation including taking photographs as required
- Process public sliding information requests and bookings by phone and/or email and process confirmations
- Assist with race office duties as required
- Compile and submit athlete and public sliding start lists to Control Tower, and distribute sliding results to athletes and public sliders
- Deliver orientation sessions for athletes and public programs (both in the Guest Service building and track-side when assisting with the delivery of public tours and rides)
- Facilitate public program (Bobsleigh and Skeleton Sport Experience).
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Gather and process participant information and waivers
- Equipment safety inspections, e.g., helmets
- Lead program safety presentation
- Maintain radio communications with Control Tower
- Shuttle/walk participants to start and return
- Safely unload sled into ready position
- Safely load guests into sled
- Recap safety components and final check of guest equipment and comfort level
- Assist pilots at Finish Dock, and assist guests to unload safely
- Safely load sled onto truck
- Track maintenance, as assigned
- Adhere to all operational and safety procedures including wearing PPE’s when required including ‘creepers’ while on-ice
- Assist in general up-keep of the Guest Service areas, including the daily set up of equipment and displays indoors and outdoors
- Proactively evolve the Guest Service department to exceed the expectations of our guests
- Support WSL departments including guest services, in the execution of WSC programs including domestic and international competitions
- Assist with the execution of special events as required

- Assist the team with other duties as assigned or required
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Previous Guest Service experience required
- Previous leadership experience an asset
- Knowledge of the Whistler Sliding Centre venue and sliding sports an asset
- Class 5 BC driver’s license
- Class 4 BC unrestricted license an asset

- Willingness to assist other team members (at times outside of the department) as needed and requested
- Passion for exceptional customer service is essential
Languages
- Fluency in English required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to regularly lift 70lbs
