JOB SYNOPSIS:
The Lift Maintenance Mechanic – Millwright/Millwright Apprentice reports to the Lift Manager and is an integral part of our Mountain Operations team. You will work closely with the maintenance team to learn and grow your skills, knowledge, and abilities by assisting and supporting in the efficient and safe operations of lifts and equipment. Day to day operations include 3 chairlifts with a 4th being built opening date of 2023/2024 winter season, 1 handle tow, 4 snowmobiles and 2 ATVs at the resort.
As part of the Lift Operations team, you will provide assistance on install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot lift equipment as well as assist lift operations with the start up and shut down of the lifts daily. Review diagrams and manufacturers’ manuals, fit bearings, rebuild sheave trains, service grips and perform other mechanical procedures requiring specialized training. Working at great heights, in all weather conditions, at any time of the day or night is also part of the realm within working conditions.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Using a sustainable approach in daily operations, planning, and development.
Work to achieve department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assist in achieving organizational goals.
Promote Whitewater’s safety culture by reviewing and amending where necessary but not limited to: Department Manuals, CDPP, Employee Handbook.
Embrace and promote Whitewater’s mission statement and values.
Maintain current knowledge of legal standards pertaining to waivers, equipment, safety regulations, and OHS practices.
Assist and implement daily, weekly and annual lift maintenance.
Support in the daily operations of the lifts, snowmobiles and ATVs to ensure safe, clean and consistent maintenance and operations for our guests.
Assist in performing preventative maintenance and repair of the snow cats and loader.
Interact professionally with lift operations staff.
Assist in the develop, review and deliver training to all lift operators, lift mechanics and persons utilizing snowmobile/ATV equipment annually or as needed
Provide assistance to ensure compliance with all Whitewater policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, the current CSA Z98 code and legislation and the BC Safety Act, as they relate to the current lifts and lift maintenance practices.
Assist in documentation and record keeping for asset maintenance and human resources.
Assist in monitoring and maintaining parts inventory.
Ensure all safety procedures are being followed at all times.
Ensure work area(s) are kept safe and clean, report any damage, malfunction, or misuse of any company equipment and/or property.
Ensure radio protocols are followed as per company policy.
Assist patrol in any rope evacuation procedures.
Assist in any emergencies.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION:
2nd Year Apprentice Millwright.
Hold a valid class 5 driver’s license and are comfortable operating ATV’s and snowmobiles.
Possess industry experience along with lift maintenance experience, including shutdowns and lift installation/infrastructure – an asset.
Have a working knowledge of hydraulics and machining.
Experience working and repairing ski lifts - an asset
Possess a welding ticket – an asset.
Possess a valid first aid and/or CPR certification – an asset.
Have a working knowledge of hydraulics and machining.
Have worked within the Resort industry – an asset
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Are reliable and have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Are an intermediate to advanced skier or snowboarder.
Are proficient with Microsoft Office and other basic computer systems and applications.
Own the required tools to perform the job.
Are familiar with Whitewater’s terrain – an asset.
Are proficient with Microsoft Office and other basic computer systems and applications.
Ability to read diagrams and manufacturer’s manuals
Are reliable and have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Good physical condition ( capable of performing manual labor, lifting up to 50 pounds, ability to lift heavy objects and constantly walking on uneven ground & comfortable working at excessive heights).
