Carmana Plaza, a hotel located in downtown Vancouver, is offering an exciting career opportunity for Maintenance. The Maintenance person is a key member of the Maintenance  and Hospitality team and is responsible for ensuring optimal condition of the property and building systems to ensure guest and tenant safety and satisfaction. 

The ideal person is detail-oriented, friendly and courteous, and willing to go the extra mile to maximize guest satisfaction and ensure building health and safety. Successful candidates will be a solid team player with at least 1 to 2 years of hotel mechanical and electrical operations experience and general proficiency in the use of applicable materials, tools, and equipment. 

Some duties and responsibilities will include: 

• Responding to all guests’ requests and telephone calls with proper etiquette and in a courteous and professional manner while maintaining high standards of service by providing 24-hour turn around for Tenant Work Orders using quality workmanship.
• Remaining alert, friendly, courteous, and helpful to guests and fellow associates at all times.
• Understanding and familiarity with mechanical and electrical equipment including, but not limited to, water treatment testing on heating, cooling, and fountain wall system, turning off breakers, testing emergency equipment (i.e., building generator, fire pump).
• Performing regular patrols and checks across the property. 
• Performing maintenance repairs including, but not limited to, minor drywall, painting, and wallpaper repairs, plumbing (sink and taps), removing and replacing toilets, heating, locks, fans, electrical and lighting, minor appliance repairs, and moving appliances (i.e., fridges and stoves).
• Maintaining the exterior grounds including litter pick up and snow removal.
• Assisting in the overall Preventative Maintenance Program for the property.

• Completion of high school or equivalent.
• Fluency in English, including good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place heavy loads.
• Capable of frequent bending, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
• Knowledge and understanding of compliance with Workers Compensation Act, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, and all applicable laws and regulations in accordance with the Residential Tenancy Act.
• Collaborative and the ability to work within a team and independently.
• Strong attention to detail, meticulous, and methodical in performing duties.
