SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are currently hiring for a Ski Patrol Manager. Reporting to the Safety Manager, the Ski Patrol Manager is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations and managing of the patrol department. The Ski Patrol Manager will be involved with hiring, interviewing, training, scheduling and overall supervision of the patrol team. The patrol manager must be able to prioritize and organize all aspects of the job with the intent of aligning the team with the core competencies of the Company. The ski patrol team is a highly visible role on the mountain so having great customer skills is also an asset.

Compliance with all Mt Seymour policies and procedures.
Must be physically able to:
o Ski/Snowboard in all terrain & snow conditions,
o Lift 50lbs,
o Ski/Snowboard while carrying 50lbs,
o Sustain physical activity 10 hours per day,
o Work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be psychologically able to:
o Work in a direct and structured environment,
o Process traumatic & medical injuries of guests and colleagues,
o Provide a supportive environment to colleagues, team members, and guests,
o Withstand critiques from peers, supervisors, and managers,
o Always advocate on behalf of the patient.
Can maintain clear, concise, and appropriate communication in written and spoken English.
Keeps a clean, organized and safe workplace.
Recognizes unsafe or hazardous work, isolates workspace, reports it to a supervisor or manager.
Responsible for the overall running of the Patrol Department, which includes, but not limited to:
o Manage the completion of CODE 5 Reports, and further investigation.
o Hiring within the Patrol department.
o Communication within the Patrol Department.
o Planning and delivering annual department training for new and returning hires.
o Managing staff scheduling & accountable for ongoing training and mentorship of staff.
o Maintaining relationships with external agencies, i.e. North Shore Rescue, DNV Fire.
o Implementation of public safety initiatives.
o MSR Policy & Procedures compliance of employees and volunteers.
o Enforcement of Alpine Responsibility Code (ARC) and Mt Seymour Terms of Conditions.
Accountable/Responsible for administrative duties within the Patrol Department. Including:
o Purchasing equipment and supplies,
o Staff contracts,
Accountable for daily Mountain Risk Management plan, responsible for reviewing and amending plan.
Assist Safety Manager with OH&S initiatives & procedural updates.
o Valid Occupational First Aid Level 3, or, Non-urban Emergency Care Level 3, or, Wilderness First Aid (accredited course) (80 hours), or, greater,
o 2 of the following,
o Licensed with EMA-LB as:
o Low/high angle rope rescue qualification.
o Previous supervisor and/or managerial experience within a Patrol/Safety department in a similar business.
Knowledge and experience with Risk Management systems,
Proven organizational, communication and administration skills.
Can perform under pressure with the following attributes:
o Sound decision making,
o Strong leadership,
o Effective communication,
o Resilience, and,
o In accordance with policies and procedures.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Five 8-hour shifts/week, weekends, and evenings. (October-April)
