Reporting to Manager of Community & Visitor Engagement, the position of Retail Coordinator is a key resource in delivering visitor services initiatives and activities, using exceptional customer service skills to encourage bookings, generate longer stays, increase attraction visitation, increase local spending, and encourage return visits.

The responsibilities specific to the position include:

• Coordinating Tourism Kelowna’s retail program including monthly inventory reports, product ordering, merchandising, and storefront restocking;
• Providing a superior level of service to the public entering the building;
• Working alongside Community Specialist staff and volunteers to accomplish tasks;
• Coordinating the working relationship with Tourism Kelowna’s retail partners, vendors, and social media contractor;
• Working to expand awareness of Love for Kelowna brand by wholesaling and consigning products to local shops and companies;
• Working to determine required order quantities for new products and re-orders and to explore new, leading retail products for sale and consideration;
• Updating the loveforkelowna.com online retail store and social media, working with the Marketing and Communications team to promote, market, and advertise these sales channels;
• Responsible for meeting monthly and yearly goals and KPI’s for Kelowna Visitor Centre retail program;
• Ensuring budgets are adhered to;
• Create and deliver a yearly calendar of activations utilizing retail and community partners to help drive traffic to the Kelowna Visitor Centre;
• Retail experience preferred;

General responsibilities include:

• Maintain a superior level of customer service and a high level of community knowledge;
• Welcome all visitors, determine needs and service by providing complete and accurate information;
• Keep the Kelowna Visitor Centre grounds tidy, keep interior clean, orderly, and organized;
• Attending monthly staff meetings, and scheduled familiarization tours;
• Behaving and dressing in a professional manner at all times, including wearing the designated uniform;
• Assisting Manager of Community & Visitor Engagement with general administration duties;
• Assisting with planning, booking, and execution of events;
• Coaching and inspiring Community Specialist staff and volunteers to deliver the best experience possible in all facets of visitor servicing;
• Act as the first point of contact for Community Specialist staff and volunteers on weekends;
• Other duties as assigned.  

• Exceptional customer service skills based on consultative inquiry;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; second language an asset;
• Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects concurrently;
• Strong leadership, decision-making and relationship-building skills;
• Experience in budget development, analytical and management skills;
• Superior computer and technical skills;
• Experience with content management systems (CMS) and customer relationship management systems (CRM);
• Goal and results-oriented, ongoing commitment to business improvement and efficiencies;
• Positive attitude towards work, colleagues, stakeholders and tourism industry;
• Excellent knowledge of tourism opportunities within the city of Kelowna, region and province;
• Must be able to lift and maneuver 30 lb. boxes;
• A class 5 driver’s license is required.

• Salary/Wage: $46,000 annually
