Role Status: Full time – Permanent – Hourly

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Establishing and maintaining all aspects of Mountain Crew operations; including but not limited to, Sliding Zone, Skate Rink, Sleigh Ride, Disc Golf Course, Light Walk, snow removal, trails and pathways, etc.
• Adhering to all operational and safety procedures.
• Conducting daily safety briefing/toolbox talks.
• Ensuring daily log sheets and checks are completed for each mountain attraction and applicable machines
• Ensuring smooth operation of machinery, that it is left in good working condition and perform small repairs to ice rink, snow blowers, line trimmers, lawnmowers, etc. 
• Landscaping mountain top and base areas and maintaining these areas 
• Hire and train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policies
• Coordinate, assign and review the work of Mountain Operations and Base Operations staff, by building and communicating schedules
• Responsible for scheduling and assigning work to the Mountain Crew team
• Coaching and motivating staff to maintain a high standard of customer service
• Supervise the daily operations of both the Blue and Red Skyrides, Skyride Surf Adventure
• Help manage the departmental payroll, data entry, and scheduling; prepare ad hoc reports
• Providing assistance and handling comments from guests, employees and suppliers
• Ensure the cleanliness and safety of all base areas, buildings and grounds
• Action the emergency procedures in the event of adverse weather conditions, missing, lost or injured persons, tramway mechanical or electrical failure
• Assist the North Shore Search & Rescue, RCMP, North Van District Fire and other high profile groups with search and rescue and emergency operations
• Support special events planning, logistics, set up, and execution
• Assist the British Columbia Safety Authority with annual tramway safety inspections
• Receive and transport freight and goods throughout the mountain
• Perform all other duties as assigned

 Working Conditions

Mountain Operations and Base Operations Supervisors perform most of their duties outdoors and may work in all different kinds of weather conditions. Hours of operation are weather dependent. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include rotation of shifts, day/evening shifts, and weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, shoveling, and other forms of manual tasks.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Functional knowledge of winter and summer operations
• Previous experience with Ski Lifts and Arial Tramways preferred
• Completion of grade 12 at the start of employment required; post-secondary education preferred
• Enjoy working outdoors and maintaining high service standards, including during inclement weather conditions 
• Knowledge of Grouse Mountain policies and procedures
• Previous experience in customer service required
• Possess proven leadership abilities
• Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel required
• Ability to lift up to 40lbs
• Class 5 license preferred
• Must be personable, friendly and outgoing with excellent customer service skills
• High energy and a strong work ethic
