Job Description

Summary of Position: To build emergency-oriented resilience in the region’s visitor economy and tourism businesses. Collaborate with tourism businesses, industry groups, local authorities, response agencies and other groups to ensure tourism industry representation and engagement in preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery activities. Responsible for information management to support ongoing programming, including database management and mapping. As emergency events dictate, ability to expand duties as needed to meet changing demands. 

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Liaise between tourism industry groups, local authorities and response agencies to ensure positive outcomes for regional industry stakeholders during and following emergency events
  • Coordinate tourism industry groups, local authorities and response agencies to improve regional and provincial emergency processes
  • Maintain situational awareness of all ongoing or potential hazards or crises
  • Provide regular reporting
  • Maintain CCC office Emergency Plan
  • Build industry resilience through training
  • Collaborate with tourism emergency program coordinators in other regions as needed
  • Coordinate tourism emergency support across regional staff team
  • Ensure program deliverables are met, including administration and financial stewardship
  • Maintain regional and provincial tourism asset database
  • Work with businesses to develop emergency preparedness and business continuity plans
  • Create and manage mapping tools to support programs 
  • Contribute innovative and creative thinking to CCC programs

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Post secondary preferred. 

Proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM software, database management processes, Google Earth or similar GIS mapping systems. 

Strong communication skills and team player. 

Requires project management skills, including stakeholder collaboration and working with businesses and communities. 

BC Driver’s license required, must be willing and able to travel in region. 

Salary/Wage

22-26 per hour
