Detailed Job Description
You are responsible for maintaining effective trail signage on the KHMR terrain, in addition to other diverse duties as assigned. Working under the direction of the Mountain Safety Manager, you will become well-versed in the KHMR Mountain Safety program and report on trail conditions and health and safety concerns, at times acting as a point of contact in emergency situations.
You will: Assist with environmental control, including brush cutting, debris removal and trail conditioning. Perform trail maintenance (snow farming, sign maintenance, tower pads, etc.). Perform general support duties (snow and garbage removal, assisting Lift and Safety crews). Ensure adequate signs, ropes, gates and pylons are in place and maintained for guest and staff safety. Operate slope maintenance or other equipment in a safe and responsible manner as needed. Act as point of contact in emergency situations or regarding health or safety concerns and advise Mountain Safety team as required. Provide accurate information to guests or employees regarding lifts, trails, facilities & services, etc. Answer questions and handle complaints in an efficient, courteous and helpful manner. Be able to work flexible shifts up to 10 hours, including holidays and weekends. Work extended, flexible shifts, including weekends, in extreme weather conditions on resort. Assist with other duties as assigned.

You: Hold a valid class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract. Have a first aid certification with CPR; preferably Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC). Can communicate effectively and multi-task under stress or time pressures. Have previous experience in a safety, patrol, or related outdoors role. Have completed the Avalanche Skills Training Level 1. Are an advanced skier/snowboarder, able to access all areas of the resort and perform manual labour on rough terrain and in harsh conditions. Have basic knowledge of small engine operation - an asset. Are experienced with hand tool use and maintenance, as well as basic carpentry skills - an asset. Are familiar with Kicking Horse Mountain Resort terrain - an asset. Have previous experience using radio equipment - an asset.
