Job Description:

Onboard our top of the line of 12 person zodiacs as a skipper, you are both a competent mariner and an entertainer with exceptional customer service skills. Sea Vancouver skippers are responsible for ensuring safe operation and navigational practices while also acting as an engaging tour guide to up to 12 passengers on board. It is expected that a zodiac skipper will introduce passengers to all the west coast has to offer during the tour. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Safe operation of the vessel including preparation before tour and shutdown and cleaning after tour
  • Completing necessary log books
  • Customer service
  • Interacting with passengers as a captain, but also as tour guide and marine naturalist
  • Minor vessel maintenance as required 
  • Providing an exceptional tour experience

 

 

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

Required certifications and skills:

  • SVOP, MEDA3/MEDA2/DVSBS/DVS, ROC-M/ROC-MC, Marine Basic First Aid
  • Commercial operating experience
  • Knowledge of safe boat handling in all weather conditions
  • Knowledge of natural hazards to geographical area of operation 

Skills and attributes considered valuable assets:

 

  • Customer service interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Knowledge of hazards surrounding the area
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulations for operating a vessel in the area of Vancouver Harbour by Transport Canada and Vancouver Fraser Port Authority
  • Salary/Wage: Hourly Wage
