Lift Mechanics are responsible for the maintenance and repair of the Cypress Mountain lifts as well as assist Lift Operations with the daily start-up and shutdown of them. They also read diagrams and manufacturers’ manuals, fit bearings, rebuild sheave trains, service grips and perform other mechanical procedures requiring specialized training. Lift Mechanics work at great heights on lift towers and lift lines, in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to the following):
 Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical or hydraulic problems.
 Adhere to assembly and maintenance instructions in manufacturers manuals and specifications.
 Actively involved in preventative and required maintenance of all lifts.
 Maintain records of work completed.
 Assist with training Lift Attendants to operate the lifts and perform routine checks.
 Operate company equipment safely and effectively in accordance with company policies.
 Ensure compliance with local and national standards and legislation including the z-98 code and manufacturer’s specifications.
 Keep work area safe and clean and report any damage, malfunction, misuse or abuse of any equipment or property.
 Ensure safety of guests and employees through proper training and adherence to company policies and procedures.
 Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program.
 Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required.
 Proficient with MS Office and other basic computer systems and applications.
 Candidate owns all the required tools to perform job adequately.  Assist the Lift Operations department with opening and closing procedures.
 Assist other departments when needed.
 Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
 Previous lift maintenance experience is preferred.
 Knowledge of the CSA Z98 Code is preferred.
 Previous snowmobile experience is preferred.
 Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
 Working knowledge of hydraulics.
 Proficient in Microsoft Office and other basic computer systems and applications.
 Able to work outside in all weather conditions.
 Good communication skills.
 Strong organizational and time management skills.
 Comfortable working at heights.
 Previous first aid experience an asset.
 Able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
 High School or equivalent.
 Certified Journeymen Millwright, with an interprovincial ticket; or a Millwright Apprentice.
 Previous lift maintenance experience is preferred.
 Knowledge of the CSA Z98 Code is preferred.
 Successful completion of the Selkirk College lift mechanic courses is preferred – Lift 151 Surface Lifts, Lift 152 Fixed Grip Ski Lifts, Lift 153 Detachable Grip Ski Lifts.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
 Must be able to legally work in Canada.
 Certified Journeymen Millwright, with an interprovincial ticket; or a Millwright Apprentice.
 Valid class 5 driver’s license as well as a reliable, insured vehicle to get to/from the mountain (shift start/end times are outside shuttle bus operations).
 First aid experience an asset.
 Any applicable safety training is an asset (i.e. WHMIS, Fall protection).
