Position: Buyer, Retail Operations

Department: Retail Operations

Reports to: Director, Merchandise

POSITION SUMMARY:

Canucks Sports & Entertainment is seeking a dynamic and experienced Buyer to join our retail team. The Buyer, Retail Operations will be responsible for selecting and purchasing a range of merchandise that aligns with our brand and meets the needs of our diverse fan base. This role will focus on enhancing our assortment, driving sales, and supporting our retail growth strategy for all areas of business, including Vancouver Canucks, Abbotsford Canucks, memorabilia, and ecommerce.

This role will focus on:

-Sourcing and selecting merchandise, ensuring a balanced mix of core items, fashion, and hot market
-Developing and maintaining relationships with vendors and suppliers
-Analyzing market trends, industry developments, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for product development, exclusive collaborations, and product innovation
-Coordinating, executing, and reconciling internal interdepartmental purchase orders
-Monitoring inventory levels and analyzing sales data to optimize stock levels
-Working closely with Sr. Manager, Retail Operations on replenishment strategies for retail teams
-Developing sales forecasting models and data-driven insights to anticipate sell through rates, hot market items, and seasonal demand
-Working with the Director, Merchandise to manage the open to buy budget, allocating resources effectively to product categories and maximizing profitability
-Leading the merchandising vision and standard for product placement for all locations
-Working on event nights and/or weekends as required to provide necessary support to the business

Responsibilities & Qualifications

-Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field such as Business Administration, Marketing, Merchandising or Sports Management
-Three years of experience in merchandise buying, preferably in the sports Industry
-Strong understanding of NHL and NLL fan culture, sports related products, and industry trends
-Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful merchandise strategies, driving revenue growth
-Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills
-Thorough understanding of ecommerce platforms and retail operations
-Proficiency in inventory management, sales forecasting and financial analysis
-Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
-A strong understanding of and commitment to uphold our company values of discipline, respect, excellent, attitude, and mindset (DREAM)
-Onsite role at our office in downtown Vancouver
