Employment Terms: Full Time, weekends, holidays
Experience: Minimum 3 years related experience.
Contract Duration: This is a temporary maternity leave contract to begin January 7th, 2025, with an expected duration of 12-15 months, with the potential to extend employment beyond this period.

Salary: $24 -$26 per hour

Destination Osoyoos is one of British Columbia’s dynamic Destination Marketing Organizations with a commitment to establishing Osoyoos as a must-visit destination.

The Visitor Services Supervisor will help facilitate and support the frontline interactions with visitors to Osoyoos. Core duties of this position include training, scheduling, supervising, and supporting visitor service staff on a regular basis; interacting with visitors and managing visitor communications in person and online; managing the day-to-day operations of the Visitor Centre including opening and closing, statistic and visitor data management, brochure inventory management, and more. The Visitor Services Supervisor will also manage key operations of the retail store including receiving, stocking, inventory, and POS management. The Visitor Services Supervisor reports directly the Visitor Services Manager.

In addition to these tasks, the role will include ensuring an organized and efficient office and retail environment; entering visitor data and creating reports; updating monthly event calendars for online and print; and assisting the Visitor Centre manager with tasks and projects.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Duties & Responsibilities:

Visitor Communications and Staff Support
– Greet visitors and answer all visitor inquiries; assist customers with purchases;
– Train, schedule, supervise, and support visitor centre staff on a regular basis;
– Manage staff with aspects of visitor communications in person, as well as via phone, email and Live Chat
Ensure an organized and efficient office and retail environment;
– Oversee the development of databases and information on Osoyoos and stakeholders and ensure all information is up to date on a regular basis;
-Support all aspects of survey activities
-Compile on hand info and develop reporting on visitor trends as requested by various stakeholders pertinent to their business needs
-Perform call arounds as required with supporting reports created in Salesforce, and create schedule and templates for call arounds
– Manage events calendars including online and print
– Assist Visitor Services Manager, Marketing Manager and Executive Director with tasks and projects including research, tourism, and occupancy reports;
– Support Visitor Services Manager with required reporting, such as Board reports, DBC reports
– Assist with all media FAM visits where required
– Coordinate and implement events in Visitor Centre, such as open houses, shopping parties
-Develop and maintain manuals, guidelines, and procedural handbooks
-Manage brochure and racking policies and procedures
-Attend relevant conferences, meetings, and webinars
-Conduct employee interviews and performance reports

Digital
– Manage online events calendars and event submissions on DO.com
– Update, manage and maintain stakeholder listings on DO.com
– Update, manage and maintain shoposoyoos.com
– Manage the Visitor Centre page on DO.com
– Maintain the “What’s Open” page on DO.com
– Review and respond to online reviews ie Google, Tripadvisor
– Create and populate the Visitor Services social media posting calendar

Retail
– Manage retail product processing, receiving, pricing;
– Compile descriptions and images of retail items for Shopify and shoposoyoos.com
– POS management: ensure items are organized, up to date, correct taxes applied, images updated in Shopify and shoposoyoos.com on an ongoing basis
– Manage inventory and coordinate inventory counts;
– Assist with merchandising, updating, and organizing retail areas
– Design and produce signage and posters for sales and in house events

Required Skills & Abilities:
• General knowledge, interest in, and passion for Osoyoos and surrounding area;
• Experience working with the general public in a customer-service oriented way;
• Experience managing staff (2-6 people) is a requirement;
• Attention to detail is an asset;
• Excellent knowledge of Office 365 Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook is required
• Excellent knowledge of Adobe Acrobat is required.
• Working knowledge of WordPress or equivalent is required;
• Knowledge of Salesforce is an asset;
• Basic knowledge of graphic design is an asset;
• Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with others;
• Ability to work well with others, be self-motivated, and motivate others;
• Must be comfortable in a leadership role and possess strong problem solving skills
• Maintain an expected level of professionalism (i.e., punctuality, approachability & following dress code).
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Fluency in English, with strong demonstrated writing skills.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada and the ability to commute to our office in Osoyoos.

Additional Skills:
Strong knowledge of retail operations including POS software, staff scheduling, inventory management; knowledge of web-based software such as Dropbox and Zoom, as well as design-based software such as Canva.
