Job Description
POSITION: PLUMBER APPRENTICE
REPORTS TO: Plumbing Supervisor

Our Plumber Apprentice plays a key role in keeping our hotel in excellent working order for our guests and associates. You will be responsible for the installations, maintenance, and general repairs of the plumbing systems and building equipment for the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel located in Downtown Vancouver (1000 Burrard Street, Vancouver, BC V6Z 2R9). This is a full-time (40 hour a week), permanent position.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain project schedules in accordance with hotel and safety standards.
• Interpret construction and schematic drawings, technical literature and equipment specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply and drainage systems.
• Install foundation plumbing, sumps and other parts of the foundation plumbing.
• Measure, cut, and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines and maintain clean workspace.
• Manage the installation of bathtubs, shower drains, finishing trim of fixtures and test pipes for leaks.
• Respond to in-house guest calls in timely manner and assist as needed.
• Perform duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager and Plumbing Supervisor
• Participate in ongoing technical and professional training, supported by the company, to continually develop your skills and enhance your development.

• Applicants must have high school or equivalent education.
• Bachelor’s degree or related technical school degree preferred.
• Willing and able to register for the Apprenticeship Program with Skills Trades BC
• Previous experience in a major hotel, hospital, or large complex would be preferred
• Must be able to work in extreme temperatures for one hour or more.
• Must be able to tolerate working in environments with load noise for long periods of time.
• Must be able to tolerate exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body
• Must be able to tolerate changes in atmospheric conditions, such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License to travel between the Westin Wall Centre Hotel
and the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel
• Must have manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment
• Language of work is English: Applicants must have strong communications skills and be able to communicate verbally and in writing (second language is an asset).
• Strong sense of ownership to drive and meet deadlines.
• Team player with a high degree of organization to adapt to changing and difficult circumstances.
• Must have excellent guest service skills.
• A good physical condition, as this position requires constant walking, standing, and bending.
• A good physical condition, as this position requires extended sitting up to 5 hours per day while at a desk and grasping, standing, sitting, walking and repetitive motion during other periods.
• Must be able to lift 20 lbs on a regular basis, must be able to lift 50 lbs frequently and
• Must be able to lift 100 lbs occasionally.
• The job posting is open to Canadian PRs and citizens and work permit holders already in Canada
Salary/Wage
34.62/hr
