Job Description
Discover Surrey is seeking a proactive Destination Services Manager to oversee a mobile Visitor Services operation and provide support to the Sport Surrey program, while also leading community outreach efforts to strengthen engagement and visibility. This individual will play a key role in promoting Surrey as a four-season destination, managing operational logistics, and building relationships with local community leaders, operators, and partners.
Reporting to the Interim Executive Director, this role will involve a mix of operational management, community outreach, and strategic support for tourism and sports events. The successful candidate will have a passion for tourism, outstanding organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively to promote Surrey both locally and beyond.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
RESPONSIBILITIES
– Mobile Visitor Services Operation: Oversee the mobile Visitor Services program, including recruiting, training, and managing a seasonal team to provide excellent service and information to visitors during key events. Ongoing reporting on visitor statistics, team performance, service delivery, and key metrics will be required.
– Sport Surrey Program Management: Manage Discover Surrey’s involvement in the Sport Surrey program, supporting the development and promotion of sports tourism initiatives and building relationships with event organizers and stakeholders. Sport Surrey is a collaboration between the City of Surrey, the Surrey Hotel & Motel Association and Discover Surrey to attract, develop and support a variety of world-class sporting events in Surrey.
– Community Outreach & Engagement: Strengthen Discover Surrey’s presence in the community by developing relationships with local community leaders, operators, and businesses. Enhance awareness of Discover Surrey’s initiatives and foster collaboration with community partners.
– Collaboration with Marketing Team: Work closely with the marketing team to support Surrey’s promotion through campaigns, content creation, and events, helping to elevate Surrey’s profile as a key tourism destination.
– Event Support & Coordination: Coordinate logistics for tourism and sports events, ensuring seamless integration of Visitor Services operations, and supporting the delivery of exceptional experiences for event attendees.
– Travel for Tourism Promotion: Travel locally and regionally to promote Surrey’s tourism offerings, attending events, trade shows, and meetings with partners to increase awareness and attract visitors.
– Stakeholder & Partner Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with tourism stakeholders, local businesses, government officials, and event organizers to create collaborative opportunities and enhance tourism offerings in Surrey.
– Tourism Growth & Development: Contribute to the development of Surrey’s tourism infrastructure and work alongside the marketing and leadership teams to grow Surrey as a year-round tourism destination.
The ideal candidate will have:
– Experience in Tourism & Community Engagement: At least 3 years of experience in tourism, destination management, event coordination, or community relations.
– Leadership & Team Management: Experience managing and motivating teams, particularly seasonal staff, ensuring high levels of service and operational efficiency.
– Organizational & Project Management Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with experience managing multiple projects and priorities.
– Excellent Communication & Relationship Building: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster relationships with community leaders, tourism partners, and event organizers.
– Travel and Work Flexibility: Flexibility to occasionally work evenings or weekends for event support. Plus, a willingness to travel locally and regionally to represent Discover Surrey and promote Surrey’s tourism offerings, with occasional evening and weekend work.
– Passion for Tourism & Community Development: A genuine passion for promoting Surrey as a four-season destination and growing its tourism industry through collaborative community engagement.
– Valid Travel Documents: Holds a Class 5 driver’s license and a valid passport.
Salary/Wage
60,000
