If so, Destination Vancouver’s Social Media Specialist role could be the right match for you. Reporting to the Manager, Consumer Marketing, the Social Media Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day management of Destination Vancouver’s social media channels targeting the leisure travel segment.

This role will generate excitement for Vancouver’s various attractions, events and activities by creating engaging content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and X.

Strategic Accountabilities:
 Develop strategically sound social media strategies to achieve the goals and objectives of Destination Vancouver’s Consumer Marketing team.
 Plan, create, and manage content calendars, ensuring alignment with broader marketing campaigns and objectives.
 Manage Destination Vancouver’s Content Creator Program with local Vancouver influencers.
 Create and curate content (static and video) to execute on defined strategies.

Specific responsibilities:
 Creates, curates and posts written and visual content for Destination Vancouver’s social media channels (TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook).
 Leads influencer marketing initiatives, including identification, outreach, collaboration, and performance analysis.
 Analyze performance metrics and prepare reports with actionable insights to guide future strategies.
 Monitors community engagement to mitigate potential risk to the organization, destination and/or member.
 Collaborate with internal stakeholders, tourism partners, and influencers to source content.
 Monitor social trends and leverage platform updates to keep content fresh and relevant.
 Other responsibilities and projects as required and assigned by Destination Vancouver.
What are we looking for?

We are seeking a new Team Member with social media experience, ideally within the travel/tourism industry, including an understanding of best practices and the achievement of associated KPIs. A background in spearheading paid social media campaigns, including strategy to maximize the campaigns’ objectives, and managing budgets is necessary as is experience in developing social strategies and content plans to deliver against them.

 You love Vancouver as a place to live, work, play, experience and explore and are excited about what is coming in 2025 and beyond!
 Familiarity with social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook etc.)
 Experience in developing social media strategies and content plans to deliver against them.
 Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with an eye for detail.
 Strong experience with influencer marketing, including video coordination and relationship management.
 Proficiency with social media scheduling tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Emplifi, Hootsuite etc.) and analytics platforms.
 Basic graphic design skills and experience in using tools such as Canva to create visual content is a plus.
 Experience in video content creation, including shooting, editing, and optimizing for social media is an asset.
 Possess a high level of professionalism, maturity, diplomacy and judgment regarding decision-making.
 Able to meet deadlines and take directions in a fast-paced environment.
 Post-secondary education in business, marketing, or communications is preferred and/or equivalent experience.
