Job Type: Seasonal position (Mid-April – Late October)
Job Level: Experienced in Desolation Sound and local waters

Guide guests through the stunning waters of Desolation Sound and Toba Inlet. Skippers work alongside our cultural interpreters to deliver unforgettable guest experiences.

Klahoose Wilderness Resort is an award-winning, off-grid eco-resort located in Desolation Sound, British Columbia. Proudly 100% owned by the Klahoose First Nation and managed by QXMC, the resort offers authentic, sustainable, and culturally rich experiences. Guests arrive via Powell River or Lund, with boat transfers provided from Lund Harbour to the resort. Skippers also help lead marine-life tours to showcase the natural beauty and wildlife of the region.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:
• Safely operate vessels in compliance with Transport Canada policies, local laws, NIMMSA guidelines, and company regulations.
• Provide boat transfers for guests from Lund Harbour to the resort.
• Lead marine-life tours, sharing knowledge of local wildlife, geography, and Klahoose culture.
• Navigate diverse sea conditions with awareness of local hazards, tides, and weather.
• Maintain vessel cleanliness, functionality, and required documentation before and after trips.
• Conduct safety briefings, lead drills, and follow onboard safety protocols.
• Respond to emergencies with rescue and first aid as needed.
• Communicate with management to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Represent Klahoose First Nation professionally while delivering memorable experiences.

Qualifications:
• Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) certification
• Small Domestic Vessel – Basic Safety (SDV-BS) certification
• Radio Operators Certificate Marine (ROC-M) certification
• Basic Marine First Aid or equivalent
• Willingness to obtain MERS Naturalist certification
• Willingness to obtain CBVA Commercial Bear Viewing Level 1 certification
