We are the premier houseboat destination on Shuswap Lake. With hundreds of km of shoreline to explore onboard our luxurious Twin Anchor houseboats. Our guests have the ability to adventure and see the many highlights of the lake or relax on their houseboat. We are located at the largest marina on Shuswap lake surrounded by mountain scenery. It is the perfect location for after work adventures and to work in beautiful Sicamous, BC. Job Title:
Human Resources Manager-SLVI
Job Function:
Oversee all aspects of Human Resources practices and processes. Support business requirements and ensure the proper implementation of company strategies and objectives. Promote corporate values and enable company’s successes through recruitment, performance management, training and development, employment cycle changes, resources, and facility management.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure objectives are met through the effective management of human resources
-Recommend organizational process or policy change
Collaborate with Partners, Managers and Stakeholders
-Facilitate disciplinary meetings with Production/Operations Manager(s)
-Continually work on employee relations
-Assist with the department heads and employee relations
Promote Innovation & Efficiencies and Guide Change
-Study HR related data and industry trends and then make recommendations to the business to improve relations, employee satisfaction and business performance.
Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
-Recommends and promotes HR policies, programs, and best practices in support of company objectives,
-Develops effective programs which exemplify industry best practices
Nurture a positive working environment
-Improve communication between employees and management
-Promote engagement and, commitment, and motivation of employees by developing, implementing, and evaluating innovative strategies to enhance productivity, morale, and culture
-Decrease Absenteeism
-Decrease Resignation rates
Manage full cycle recruiting at SLVI- including job postings, resume screening, interviewing, and onboarding
-Verify job descriptions are completed, correct and accurate
-Post job advertisements for open roles
-Call back and reach out to past employees to return to work
-Screen resumes, phone interviews, then in person or zoom interviews
-Reference and Employment verification checks
-Support hiring alongside managers with recruitment and interviews
-Negotiate terms of employment, send offer letters
-Evaluate wage structure and make recommendations
-Oversee/facilitate orientation/onboarding of new hires (first day and new hire orientations for all new employees)
Support supervisors/managers with onboarding and training, paperwork collection
Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that strives for excellence in Quality System
-Assist department supervisors and managers formally evaluate employee performance and provide feedback, coaching, and direction on improving employee performance
-Ensure performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner and communicated to Employees effectively
-Assess training requirements, develop and/or procure and monitor training systems
-Analyze training needs to design employment development and wellness programs
-Conduct exit interviews or administer exit surveys to identify employee satisfaction levels and areas of improvement eg. Pay equity, training, orientations, communication
-Develop standard processes for all HR functions (HRM-Quality system of SOPs)
Support Supervisors and Managers by:
-Advising managers and employees in day to day matters, providing guidance and coaching on a broad range of matters including leadership, performance management, conflict resolution and disciplinary matters when required.
-Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems
-Coach for performance and then progressive discipline
-Conduct progressive disciplinary meetings and administer appropriate paperwork
-Reporting to management and provide decision support through HR Metrics
Support Employees by:
-Open door policy
-Encouraging them to talk to they’re Supervisors and Managers about their questions or concerns
-Handle employee complaints and incidents, including conflict resolution, accidents, health and safety concerns, work refusals and investigations
-Refer them to local free counselling or other resources if needed to help them deal with external factors that might affect their work
Refer them to Smoking Cessation programs
Ensure legal compliance
-Assess risks and advise management and stakeholders on legal requirements
-Advise presidents when legal counsel of Solicitor is recommended beyond scope of HRM
-Act as representative for WorkSafeBC investigations and contact
Represent organization at employee-related hearings and investigations
-Ensure aspects of marina and workplace follows legal requirements
Safety:
Facilitate new hire health & safety orientations and develop materials for those presentations
Conduct safety training and management record keeping of training for all employees
Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials
Assist and lead Joint Health and Safety Committee Meetings
Investigate health related complaints and inspect facilities to ensure compliance with legislation and regulation
Maintain or update emergency response plan or procedures
Develop or maintain medical monitoring of those programs
Inspect or evaluate work environment equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
Order suspension of activities that pose threats to worker’s health and safety
Develop emergency procedure
Co-chair of SLVI TAH-OHS
First Aid:
Assist in keeping inventory of supplies in First Aid Room
Purchase or put in purchase order for first aid supplies
Be prepared and available to respond to first aid emergencies
Respond to all first incidents, refer to medical aid appropriately
Assess extent of injuries or illnesses, and administer medical treatment within the limits of training
Arrange transport to hospital or other medical facility for further medical care, accompanying if needed
Document and record nature of injuries and treatment provided immediately
Recommend stay at work, return to work, graduate or modified duties
Submit timely and detailed reporting activities, incidents, and near misses
Educate staff on safe work practices
Recommend Corrective actions

OFA level 3 first aid certificate

Knowledgeable of BC Employment Standards, Privacy, Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Human Rights, Canadian Labour Code and WorkSafeBC Acts/Regulations
Required Education and Certification:
Diploma or Degree with a concentration or specialization Human Resources
Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or (CPHR) or working towards designation
Supervising for Safety
Employers Advisors certificates:

Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk or workstation while processing reservations and customer inquiries.

Salary/Wage
1500-1700 weekly based on experience

Working Conditions: Employment Type: Full-time (Hybrid) Work Schedule: Winter Schedule (Oct-April); Monday- Friday (Hybrid). Summer Sailing Schedule (May-Sept); Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday to cover days when staff are working and at marina (In Office) Compensation: Competitive salary $1500-$1700 weekly (to be determined based on experience).
