Job Description

The Marketing and Events Manager is responsible for increasing attendance and engagement at the BC Wildlife Park through strategic marketing, social media management, and event planning. The role focuses on promoting the Park across digital and traditional media channels, managing partnerships, and overseeing special events.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Digital Engagement
• Manage and grow the Park’s presence on social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.), and ensure messaging aligns with BCWP core values and offers educational content including but not limited to conservation messaging.
• Develop and execute marketing campaigns to increase awareness and visitor engagement.
• Deliver engaging monthly newsletters and blog content.
• Maintain and update the Park’s website with event details, animal profiles, and news.
• Act as a media spokesperson, coordinating interviews and press releases.
• Monitor and respond to online reviews, social media comments, and direct messages.
Event Planning & Coordination
• Lead planning committees for Family Day, Easter, Wildlights, Craft Fairs, and other special events.
• Maintain and grow attendance for all special events.
• Identify and secure sponsorships and partnerships for events.

Community & Industry Partnerships
• Develop agreements for Travel Trade industry, Hotel Voucher Programs, and tourism sector collaborations.
• Establish partnerships with Tourism Kamloops, Thompson Okanagan Tourism, and Destination BC.
• Collaborate with CAZA and other accredited organizations to enhance cross-promotion.
Administrative & Reporting Duties
• Monitor and distribute Complimentary Admission Passes.
• Review and approve donation requests, ensuring alignment with Park values.
• Prepare monthly marketing reports for the Board of Directors.
• Assist in obtaining funding, sponsorships, and in-kind donations.
Qualifications & Skills
• Degree in Marketing, Business, Tourism, or extensive industry experience.
• Strong digital marketing skills, including social media management.
• Excellent communication and public relations abilities.
• Proven experience in event planning and sponsorship development.
• Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Canva, and website tools.
• Ability to foster relationships within the tourism sector and community.
• Exceptional negotiation and organizational skills.
• Must be available to work in-office weekdays, weekends, holidays, and some evenings.
