Job Description
Under the direction of the Education and Volunteer Supervisor, this position is responsible for participating in the day to day operation of the educational activities of the BC Wildlife Park.
The person in this position reports to the Education and Volunteer Supervisor and is part of the team dedicated to ensuring that the BCWP meets the high standards of a Provincial scale tourist attraction and conservation facility.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education & Experience
• Bachelors Degree in a related field (BSc, Education, Etc.) or a relevant Diploma, or a minimum of 2 years of relevant job experience is an asset, but not required.
• Valid BC Drivers License.
• Completion of Criminal Record Check.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
• A strong record of related work experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Excellent computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential.
• Proven ability as a self-starter with the ability to motivate self and others.
• Strong organization skills.
• Commitment to interacting with the general public with professionalism and excitement.
• Proven ability to communicate and engage with children
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and general public.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Public speaking skills with the ability to deliver educational information to various groups.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Under supervision, organizes and supports the education department in support of BC Wildlife Park activities.
DUTIES:
• Assist with the delivery of all aspects of Kid’s Camps.
• Animal handling – must be comfortable handling reptiles, birds of prey, rodents and insects (relevant training will be provided).
• Lead guided educational tours around the park
• Deliver a variety of park “Outreach Programs.”
• Deliver Birthday Parties
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays
• Participate in all Park “Special Events” which occur during most holidays
• Insure the cleanliness of the Wildlife Education Centre
• Assist in the delivery of the Wildlife Rangers Pin Program
• Assist in the delivery of interactive activities in the Wildlife Education Centre
• Other duties as assigned.
Salary/Wage
17.40 + 11% in lieu of benefits. Position is a union position.
