Visitor Information Counsellor (Summer 2025 – Part-Time)

Tourism Chilliwack is looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, and community-minded student to join our team as a Visitor Information Counsellor this summer! If you love connecting with people, promoting local experiences, and being out and about in the community, this is the role for you.

Position Summary:
Visitor Information Counsellors are an important link between our visitors and Chilliwack’s tourism offerings. Whether at the Chilliwack Visitor Centre or out in the community, this role provides exceptional service, shares local knowledge, promotes tourism products, and supports events and outreach. With a bubbly, welcoming presence, you’ll help create memorable experiences for visitors while gaining hands-on skills in customer service, marketing, and community engagement.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:
• Greet and assist visitors at the Chilliwack Visitor Centre, providing recommendations for attractions, activities, accommodations, and dining
• Offer personalized travel planning support, responding to inquiries in person, by phone, and via email
• Provide travel tips, directions, and inform visitors of any current travel advisories
• Support retail operations, including merchandising, promoting local products, and handling sales
• Represent Tourism Chilliwack at community events and pop-up visitor information booths
• Help update our website and manage the events calendar
• Share content and stories on social media platforms to highlight visitor experiences
• Occasionally assist in delivering promotional collateral to local partners and businesses
• Track, collect, and enter visitor statistics and feedback for reporting
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Excellent communication skills – face-to-face, telephone, and written
• Strong customer service and organizational skills
• Knowledge of local attractions, events, and tourism offerings
• Resourceful, team-oriented, and able to work independently
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel)
• Comfortable using social media (Instagram, Facebook)
• Outgoing, friendly, and welcoming demeanour

Requirements:
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must be able to lift to 20 lbs
• Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident between 15–30 years of age (as per Canada Summer Jobs Guidelines)
