Job Description

As a Dock Hand, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring safe and efficient marine operations while creating exceptional guest experiences. From assisting with vessel docking to liaising with clients, your contributions will keep our dock running smoothly and our guests happy.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
• Vessel Assistance: Safely land and secure vessels to the dock, manage lines, position boats, and set up fenders.
• Client Support: Assist with loading/unloading personal belongings and provide seamless liaison experience to and from resort accommodations.
• Dock Maintenance: Maintain dock cleanliness, monitor safety, fuel vessels, and assist in waste management and sanitation tasks.
• Customer Service: Take reservations, answer inquiries via phone/email, and assist customers in the dock store.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate gear while ensuring adherence to lifting, equipment handling, and dockside safety standards.
• Weather Monitoring: Stay informed about weather conditions and adjust docking operations as necessary.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to stay calm and efficient in high-pressure situations.
• Physical stamina to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• A proactive attitude and a cheerful, professional demeanor.
Qualifications:
• Basic knowledge of marine operations (preferred but not required).
• Ability to safely operate dock equipment and machinery.
• Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus).
• First Aid & AED certifications (preferred).
• Pleasure Craft Operator Card and valid BC Class 5 driver’s license.
• Valid ROC-M Certificate (preferred).
• Valid SVOP Certificate (preferred).
• Willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.
Working Conditions
This role primarily involves working outdoors in diverse weather conditions, with occasional exposure to noise, fuel, and slippery surfaces. Physical fitness is essential, as the job requires lifting to 50 lbs., standing for extended periods, and being adaptable to the elements. The ability to swim is mandatory.
Salary/Wage
19-25 per hour
