Job Description

Whistler Olympic Park is a world-class destination for outdoor recreation activities & Nordic sports, located just south of Whistler in the stunning Callaghan Valley. Established for the 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games, the Park’s incredible facilities are now enjoyed by both high-performance athletes and recreational guests alike.

Biathlon Program Instructor, Summer provides guests with a memorable outdoor experience by delivering customer service excellence. Responsibilities include sharing information to educate, engage, and demonstrate a high level of product knowledge in the delivery of an exceptional interpretive guest experience. In addition, this role endeavours to maximize sales, drive business to target products, shares customer feedback with Manager, and maintains a safe and clean environment.

Seasonal Full Time, Part Time or Casual role(s) requires the flexibility to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Welcome guests while sharing park activity information
• Promote and assist guests in purchase of the Discover Biathlon Program with a high degree of passion and enthusiasm
• Follow documented procedure and safe delivery of the Discover Biathlon Program including:
o Manage and maintain range, firing line, rifles, and targets in a safe and efficient manner
o Act as Range Safety Officer while on range
o Educate and instruct guest participation in the program
o Ensure preparation and maintenance of program equipment
o Efficiently keep to a scheduled itinerary
• Develop a high level of knowledge to promote products and services
• Professionally handle guest queries and concerns
• Ensure all public areas are kept clean, including public washrooms and Day Lodge
• Assist in group sales activities
• Process rental and retail shop products
• Accurately compile and summarize information as requested
• Foster a strong culture of health & safety; work with Human Resources and Safety to ensure all WorkSafeBC and BC Safety Authority requirements are met
• Carry out Whistler Sport Legacies’ customer service philosophy AIM: All Interactions Matter
• Assist team with other duties as assigned or required

Position Requirements
Education/Experience
• PAL certification (Firearms Possession & Acquisition License) required
• Experience with bolt action rifles required
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check is mandatory prior to commencement of employment
• Previous experience working in a customer service-oriented position an asset
• First Aid qualifications an asset
• Knowledge of the Olympic Nordic disciplines (cross-country skiing, biathlon, ski jumping, and Nordic combined) an asset
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License required
• Valid BC Class 4 Unrestricted Driver’s License an asset

Skills
• Excellent “in person” customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow range protocol and maintain a safe firearms working environment
• Excellent listening and comprehension skills required
• Ability to establish quick rapport to build relationships and network
• Ability to work well both independently with minimum direction, and as part of a team
• Willingness to assist other team members (at times outside of the department) as needed and requested
• Passion for exceptional customer service is essential

Physical Requirements
• Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions
• Ability to crouch, kneel and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to regularly lift 50lbs
• Reliable transportation an asset – WOP is not serviced by transit – ride sharing available

Salary/Wage

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour dependent upon certification and experience
