About
The Indigenous Resilience Festival presents a fully-funded opportunity for Indigenous Elders, youth, leaders, artists, and entrepreneurs to share knowledge on Indigenous cultural performances, Indigenous cultural storytelling, and Indigenous dialogue.
There are two parts in this festival:
- Virtual workshops & coaching sessions:The fully funded online workshops will assist participants in composing a 15 minute presentation expressing their personal perspective on cultural resilience throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. They will utilize expression through storytelling in cultural art forms such as song, dance, carving, painting etc.One on one coaching and mentorship sessions will take place in between the workshops and event to ensure participants’ readiness for the celebratory festival.
- Festival Presentation:The Indigenous Resilience Festival will take place at the Rotary Centre for the Arts in Kelowna, BC (travel and accommodation will be provided on a case to case basis). This day-long festival will present an opportunity for Indigenous youth, elders, leaders and entrepreneurs to share personal stories and experiences, expanding on Indigenous traditional storytelling and knowledge. These presentations will include identifying and sharing resilience stories from various Indigenous perspectives, including how Indigenous businesses have been impacted and recovered from the effects of the pandemic. Each individual who participates in the festival will receive professional video & photo content of the performance for personal promotion. There will also be tables outside the theatre to sell your own physical merchandise and to share posters with QR codes and links to any online platforms that you would like to share. This event will be live streamed so that family, friends, and community members will have the ability to watch virtually.
