New Year brings New Collaborations, Partnerships
There is strength in numbers or so the old saying goes…. As Q1 unfolds, I am feeling energized by the new initiatives and ongoing progression of collaborative projects that the go2HR team has been working on. We are creating some new partnerships and working together to tackle the challenges ahead. Like you, I am increasingly concerned about reports of new variants of COVID-19, which serves as another important reminder that we need to continue to be vigilant to combat this virus.
Tourism Task Force Recommendations
In December, the BC Tourism Task Force issued their recommendations to government about how to restart this valuable driver of the provincial economy. One of their recommendations included go2HR developing an online safety certification which we are currently exploring with government on how to advance. The task force also cited a need for partnership to better gather data on the industry and more specifically on the impacts of COVID-19 on the workforce to inform future decision making and planning. go2HR is also working on advancing that key research.
COVID- 19 Safety Plan Review
As more people head back to work, there is increasing concern about COVID-19 exposures and transmissions in the workplace. The Government of BC and WorkSafeBC want businesses to stay open safely and in compliance with public health orders. COVID safety plans need to be regularly reviewed and updated as things change. It is critical to monitor and assess your plans’ effectiveness, and adapt, if necessary, as needs change. To learn more about ways you can keep you and your employees safe, please visit our COVID resource page.
go2HR has been invited to participate in the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation (JERI) COVID-19 Industry Engagement Table, established to increase the communication between government and industry to reduce the spread of COVID-19 on in the workplace.
Labour Market Information Update
go2HR continues to work to find the means to do necessary research that is required to better understand the totality of the labour market. Stay tuned to our newsletters and social media channels for additional updates.
Let’s Talk
Each year, mental health awareness is spotlighted on January 28th with Bell’s Let’s Talk program but we all know that mental health is a topic we need to be thinking about each and every day, especially in light of our current global pandemic. To that end, go2HR is exploring partnerships with key non-profits to ensure that our industry has the specific resources and supports to help them through this challenging time. Watch this space for more details as they unfold.
