About Us
Touchstones Nelson: Museum of Art and History is a multi-faceted organization, with a museum showcasing local and regional history, a significant regional archives, two contemporary gallery spaces and a stunning gift shop featuring the works of local and regional artists and artisans.
The purpose of the Touchstones is to run a sustainable, integrated organization that actively promotes, through exhibitions and programming, the knowledge, appreciation and understanding of history and art. This will be accomplished, according to industry standards, by:
- Collecting and preserving regional artifacts and art;
- Innovatively interpreting regional history;
- Operating well-organized, accessible archives;
- Displaying local and touring contemporary art; and
- Proactively raising funds to support efficient operations and effective programming.
