JOB SYNOPSIS:
Under the direction and supervision of the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, the Shop Hands primary role will be to assist the maintenance team in the daily operations of the maintenance shop, ensuring all tools, equipment, and materials are ready for use. This position focuses on supporting mechanics with basic maintenance and repairs, organizing the work area, and performing routine tasks that contribute to the efficient functioning of the shop. The Shop Hand will also uphold the highest safety standards and work closely with the team to ensure all maintenance work is completed on time.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in maintaining and organizing the shop, ensuring all tools and materials are stored properly.
Assist with basic maintenance tasks, including cleaning equipment, lubricating parts, and helping with inspections.
Help mechanics with minor repairs and the replacement of components such as filters, belts, and fluids.
Maintain inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring that items are stocked and in good condition.
Ensure the shop area is clean, safe, and organized.
Support team members with moving equipment or parts as needed.
Ensure all equipment is maintained according to safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
Assist with the loading and unloading of equipment and parts.
Help maintain safety standards in the shop, including safe operation of tools and equipment.
Participate in daily safety briefings and follow proper safety protocols.
Assist in emergency situations when needed.
Assist in snow removal or other resort maintenance tasks when required.
Champion a sustainable approach in daily operations, planning, and development.
Promote Whitewater’s safety culture by reviewing and amending where necessary but not limited to: Department Manuals, Employee Handbook.
Work to achieve department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assist in achieving organizational goals
Embrace, promote and follow Whitewater’s mission statement and values
Maintain current knowledge of legal standards pertaining to waivers, equipment, safety regulations, and OHS practices.
Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required from time to time
Responsibilities & Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION:
Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in a shop environment is an asset.
Ability to perform manual labor and lift up to 50 pounds.
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required.
Experience in operating basic shop equipment such as power tools, hand tools, etc., is an asset.
Good physical condition and ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work well with others and contribute to a positive team environment.
Capable of lifting heavy objects and performing tasks that involve manual labor.
Comfortable working in various weather conditions.
Must be dependable and punctual.
Ability to operate basic equipment safely and responsibly.
