Job Description

Nature & Scope: Terracentric Coastal Adventures is seeking individuals to fill the roles of Camp Leaders and Activity Staff for its Spring programs at the Powell Lake Outdoor Learning Centre. Staff work in pairs and are responsible for meeting the emotional, physical and safety needs of a group of up to 10 campers. Position includes responsibility for the planning and delivery of programs for children aged 9-16. Applicants should possess strong abilities in several camp related activities, including hard and soft skills needed to positively engage and lead programs for young people. Activity Staff take leadership over various outdoor activity areas and have much the same profile with the addition of a specialty area such as canoe or paddle boarding.

Responsibilities:
Lead/ Accompany groups to all programs from breakfast to bedtime.
Provide supervision to campers.
Participate in the planning and delivery of fun and safe programming appropriate to the ages and abilities of campers.
Lead/ Assist with or take part in camp-wide or evening programming.
Manage group dynamics and behavior of the (cabin) group to ensure the emotional and physical safety of all campers. Ensure that all campers feel supported, safe, and all of their needs (physical, emotional, social, medical, and nutritional) are being met. Effectively work with a partner and other team members to share responsibilities in such a way that each co counselor will be able to learn and grow from one another.
Seek help from a supervisor when it is appropriate or necessary.

Seasonal 4-week Contract (recurring), Full time spring summer 2025

Starts May 20, 2025* Possibility of additional hours at completion of contract

Qualifications: (Must have or be willing to get prior to work)
Age 18+ by May 1, 2025
• Standard First Aid & CPR-C
• Criminal Record Check
Additional Qualifications (assets):
• NLS • Wilderness First Aid • ACCT Level 1 • Paddle Canada Certificates (Tandem Canoe, SUP)

Salary/Wage

starting at $167.00-250.00/day D.O.E., position and certification.
