Job Description
The Kilby Heritage Society is a charitable non-profit society that manages, operates and maintains the Kilby Historic Site and Kilby Park. We provide a safe, clean, family-oriented experience for the public.
Under the direction of the Campground Supervisor, the Campground Attendant will undertake the following tasks and duties. The main responsibility is to provide a safe, clean and well-organized park environment for guests while fulfilling the standards of a BC Park.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Compliance with all Kilby Park policies and procedures
• Carry out facility maintenance to ensure park facilities are maintained to park standards – ensuring a safe, clean and sanitary environment in all areas of the campground.
• Maintain facilities which includes raking gravel, sweeping around kiosks, maintaining garbage bins and litter picking around parkland areas
• Cleaning and maintaining campground sites, including picnic tables and fire pits
• Maintenance of washroom facilities which includes sweeping and cleaning the facilities and/or outhouses, restocking of supplies and notifying maintenance personnel of any repairs that are required
• The safe use of all required machinery and equipment
• Enforcing parking compliance
• Ensure campground compliance and security by ensuring area is patrolled and guests are abiding by the campground and park usage guidelines
• Maintain a high level of communication between co-workers and the park supervisor
• Maintain a safe and positive work environment
• Monitor all aspects of the park and respond appropriately
• Provide information to park visitors and ensure they have the best experience possible
• Provide general labour & maintenance at the historic site when campground work is completed
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Skills & Abilities:
• Team player who can take direction/training
• Ability to keep organized and detailed records regarding park usage
• Strong public relations & guest service skills required, must be able to be assertive while maintaining a friendly manner & ability to defuse confrontational situations in an effective manner
• Strong interpersonal skills to establish good working relationships with co-workers
• Previous experience working in an outdoor environment and the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
• Must possess a flexible mindset with a positive, respectful and helpful demeanor
• Must be able to lift 50lbs & walk up to 5km per day & stand up to 8 hours per day
• Appearance must be neat, clean and professional. The wearing of a uniform is supplied and required.
• Ability and knowledge to operate equipment safely and competently: chainsaws, brushers, weed whackers, power tools, etc.
