Job Description

POSITION: CATERING SALES MANAGER

REPORTS TO: Director of Sales

ROLE PURPOSE:

Wall Centre Hotels is looking for an organized, creative and client-focused individual. This role will secure catering business into the Sheraton Wall Centre hotel through client prospecting, client meetings and presentations. The ideal candidate will have a proven list of local catering contacts.

What your day will look like:
• Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through outside sales calls, tradeshows, prospecting phone calls and written communication.
• Partner with the internal team to penetrate existing sales accounts for further business opportunities.
• Prepare detailed correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance.
• Enter booking notes and information for successful execution of the function, including trace notes for follow-up.
• Maintain booking information and complete tasks in Hotel Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
• Assist with reports and/or competition data collection.
• Up-selling unique events focusing on food & beverage, audio visual, décor, and external services.
• Professionally represent the hotel at trade shows, community events and industry meetings.
• Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers.
• Participate in Sales meetings, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as required.
• Thank the client for the business on the day of the event and help to secure the next booking opportunity.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Sales, Director of Events and General Managers.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Catering Sales Manager, Convention Services Manager, Sales Manager or Event Sales Manager.
• Previous Banquet/Food and Beverage Experience is an asset.
• Previous Sales experience and knowledge.
• Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
• Marriot Booking system CI/TY knowledge is an asset.
• Excellent leadership, client relationship & guest service skills are required.
• Self-motivated, displaying strong initiative and independent decision making.
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English, a second language is an asset.
• Must have strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
• Have the ability to navigate prospecting of new and existing accounts.
• Ability to multitask while focusing on revenue goals.
• Ability to communicate customer needs and resolve complaints independently.
• Ability to identify and develop account plans.
• Walking and standing are often required. Ability to exert a well-paced mobility to conduct property tours and stand for up to 8 hours at tradeshows or events.
• Must have a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
• Travel and work from Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre and may be required to work from Westin Wall Centre, Vancouver Airport is required.
• Must be able to legally travel to the United States with appropriate documentation.
• Must be available to work outside of traditional business hours. Will be required to travel, entertain clients, and attend industry functions and events during the evenings and weekends.
• Must be available to work a rotating 5-day schedule including weekends.
• This position may work onsite at both Wall Centre Hotels, with some flexibility.

Salary/Wage

$70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
