Job Description

Join the Heriot Bay Inn team on idyllic Quadra Island! The Heriot Bay Inn is a full service, year ‘round, resort with two kitchens in one. Offering traditional pub fare seven days a week in the HBI Pub and casual fine dining, with a focus on locally sourced ingredients, seasonally in Herons Dining Room.
Located on the waterfront, the Heriot Bay Inn overlooks picturesque Heriot Bay with views to the outer islands and the mainland Coastal Mountain Range offering experiences for travelers and locals a like.

Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years of Chef experience is an asset. Ideally in a resort setting
• Red Seal certification an asset
• Food Safe Certification
• Must relocate to Quadra Island

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:
• Assist the Kitchen Manager in all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the kitchen
• Assist in the overall management of the kitchen ensuring timely and efficient operation in the absence of the Kitchen Manager
• Participate in menu planning and costing as required, events and day to day menus
• Provide high quality food in a professional and efficient manner and in compliance with all health and safety regulations
• Maintain and enforce the highest standards of quality service and appearance of food items that leave the kitchen in order to achieve culinary excellence.
• Develop and motivate staff and provide culinary leadership
• Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships; ensuring that kitchen team members do the same both within the department and with the Front of House team
• Communicate professionally and work collaboratively with the Event Planner for menu creation
• Oversee and participate in the production, preparation and presentation of all food services. Line cooking may be required depending on season and staffing levels
• Assis Kitchen Manager with staffing communications, ordering, menu creation, costing and cleanliness
• Monitor staffing levels and report to Kitchen Manager any changes that may be required
• Responsible for Inventory control and assist with food and labour costing
• Conduct and oversee monthly inventory in partnership with the Kitchen Manager
• Ensure that the Team understands the expectations and parameters and continually coach and train to ensure that these expectations are met
• Conduct on-site orientation and training of new kitchen team members.
• Supervise kitchen shift operations and ensure compliance of all Hotel policies
• Set a positive example to ensure we are providing exceptional customer service at all times
• Team orientated with the ability to work as an individual
• Fluency in English, French & Spanish speaking is an asset

Salary/Wage

$26.00-$31.00 per hour + tips
