Job Description
Do you love telling stories with photos and videos? Do you like spending time at community events? Do your batteries get charged by meeting new people and finding ways to help them? If you answered yes to these questions, you may be a fit for our team. The Community Manager is a key role, in fostering meaningful connections with visitors and prospective travellers. This position combines in-person interactions. at our Visitor Centre and out in the community with digital storytelling and online engagement to inspire visits to Cranbrook and ensure visitors have an exceptional experience while in the area.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Visitor Centre Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for visitors at the Cranbrook Visitor Centre (in person/phone/email/social).
Anticipate and respond to visitor needs, providing personalized recommendations and assistance.
Ensure the Visitor Centre is welcoming, informative, and operates efficiently.
Hire and train seasonal staff and volunteers.
Digital Storytelling & Engagement
Create new, novel and helpful content that captivates audiences and helps generate new visits.
Manage Cranbrook Tourism’s social media channels, posting compelling content that inspires travel to the region.
Update and maintain the Cranbrook Tourism website with engaging, visitor-focused content.
Monitor online interactions, respond to inquiries, and cultivate an online community of enthusiastic travelers.
Give direction to photographers and videographers to capture new assets.
Community Collaboration
Collaborate with local businesses, attractions, and tourism stakeholders to highlight unique experiences in Cranbrook.
Stay informed about local events, activities, and amenities to share with visitors.
Attend local events to offer mobile visitor services.
Qualifications & Skills
Core Competencies
Working with People: Demonstrated ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and provide outstanding customer service.
Anticipating Visitor Needs: Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach to delivering exceptional visitor experiences.
Digital Asset Managment: Manage photo and video assets in our library and work to create new creative content.
Digital Storytelling: Track record of experience creating and managing digital content, including social media posts, blogs, and website updates.
Advanced Digital Literacy: File handling, video editing, graphic design, knowledge of platform nuances and best practices.
Other Qualifications
Minimum 2 years experience working in a similar role
Minimum 2 years experience managing staff
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Ability to work some evenings and weekends as required.
Familiarity with Cranbrook and its attractions is an asset.
Applicants with tourism industry experience may be given preference.
Salary/Wage
50,000
