Job Description

Reporting to the Area Manager, the Park Manager is a hands-on position responsible for ensuring adherence to the Quality Control Plan, which includes providing a safe, clean, inviting, and functional environment for guests and staff, while fulfilling Sea to Sky Park Services contractual agreements within the Park Use Permit. The Park Manager is responsible for coordinating all operational maintenance, fee collection, and staff within their park.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:
• Adhere to the Quality Control Plan to ensure that a safe, clean, inviting, and functional environment is maintained in all Operating Areas
• Compliance with all Sea to Sky Park Services policies and procedures as set out in the Employee Handbook
• To follow Sea to Sky Park Services contractual duties outlined in the Park Use Permit

Managerial Duties:
• Respond to all park-related issues including meeting with Parks staff, community issues, and special projects
• Ensure adherence to Parks Standards and creation of resulting Operational Maintenance plans
• Hire, train and supervise support staff, this includes Gatehouse Staff, Patrol Staff, and Park Maintenance Staff
• Working with the Area Manager, ensure the safe use of all required machinery and equipment
• Conduct a regular inventory of products used and to report shortages
• Comply with STS’ OH&S program

Security and Park Information:
• Patrol the parking lot and park land areas and inform guests of park regulations such as designated camping areas, dogs on leashes, etc. in addition to conservation messages
• If working at an overnight campground facility, providing security for the area by conducting an area patrol and ensuring that guests are abiding by the Park Conservancy and Recreation Area Regulations
• Provide regular patrols throughout the operating area and report any suspicious activities such as rope swings, alterations to hiking trails, illegal removal, or modification of trees to the Area Manager.

Collection and Reporting:
• Accurate and detailed record-keeping in regard to general public park usage
• Accurate record keeping in regard to duties performed and tasks to be completed
• Accurate record keeping complying with quality control plan

Site and Facilities Maintenance
• The Area Manager will support the Park Manager in taking lead responsibility for maintaining Park furniture, park structures, park grounds, park buildings, park water systems, park roads, trails and drainage, and all sub facilities in accordance with the frequency and procedure outlined in the maintenance manual.
• Maintain trailheads, which includes raking gravel, sweeping kiosk areas, maintaining garbage bins and map stands and picking up garbage from along the roadside
• Minor maintenance of washroom facilities, which includes sweeping and cleaning the facilities and/or outhouses, restocking of supplies, and notifying maintenance personnel of any repairs that are required
• The Area Manager will support the Park Manager in taking lead responsibility for any operational and preventative repair of facilities

Landscaping:
• The Area Manager will support the Park Manager in taking lead responsibility for the identification of and minor maintenance of all equipment utilized (i.e. lawn mower, leaf blower, etc.)

Qualifications:
• Completion of/or enrolment in an Outdoor Recreation Management program and previous experience working in the recreation field or equivalent combination of education and experience or completion of/or enrolment in a Facilities Management program and previous experience working in the maintenance field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Occupational First Aid level 1
• Valid B.C. Driver’s License required
• Cash handling experience, with the ability to conduct basic banking transactions
• Ability to keep organized and detailed records in regard to park usage, maintenance requirements, etc.
• Administrative abilities including advanced word processing and spreadsheet skills
• Must be mature, responsible, and self-motivated
• Strong public relations and guest service skills required – must be able to be assertive while maintaining a friendly manner
• Able to work in adverse weather conditions
• Ability to be a supportive team member

Salary/Wage

68,000
