Job Description

The Crystal Lodge in the heart of Whistler village is currently recruiting for a full-time, fixed term (20-month contract), Director of Operations!
This fixed term position is a great opportunity for a current hospitality manager to get their foot into the Director door to enhance and expand their skillset.
This role is expected to start late September 2024 for a period of up to 20-months. .
The Director of Operations works closely with the General Manager, Front Office Manager and Maintenance Manager and is responsible for overseeing the daily operations for both the Front Office and Maintenance departments. This role supports two teams of up to 22 members.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Some of the responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to
• Work in conjunction with the General Manager to actively manage key property issues (including capital projects, customer service and refurbishment).
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Front Office and Maintenance team to confirm departmental service standards and goals are consistently met.
• Lead and uphold the service culture model in place for the Front Office team.
• Regularly analysing and reviewing costs of both the Front Office and Maintenance team to address concerns and discrepancies, and create action plans when needed.
• Assist in the development of hotel budgets and other hotel strategic goals.
• Provide effective leadership to Front Office and Maintenance Manager to ensure financial and guest service targets are being met and/ or exceeded, addressing concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Collaborate with other Directors and Managers across the hotels departments with the coordination and execution of annual suite programs.
• Lead the overall hotel safety in emergency procedures across the hotel.
• When required, support with the recruitment of the Front Office and Maintenance teams.
• Respond to guest trends that are identified to ensure continual improvement is achieved, designing and delivering training when required.
• Support the Front Office team with guest issues that are escalated in a timely, professional and courteous manner.
• Support the team with car/ bike/ ski valet depending on the season.
Please note that this list is not exhaustive and there will be duties outside of this list that will be required to meet the needs of the Front Desk team, and hotel.
The experience, skills and abilities we are looking for are:
• Previous experience in a senior room’s management role is essential for a minimum of two (2) years.
• Strong communication skills with demonstrated experience managing budgets, projects and achieving financial targets.
• Full, valid BC drivers licence.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills to effectively manage and motivate the team to achieve high level of perform and exceed targets.
• Knowledge of Property Management System software an asset.
• An extensive knowledge of hotel and resort operations. Is required.
• Operational knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook required.
• Available to work on weekends is preferred.
• Comfortable standing, sitting, pushing/ pulling luggage, ski equipment and carts up to 50lbs.

70,000-90,000
