Job Description
The Red Cariboo Resort is looking for a horse trainer/all-rounder from now on (start date as soon as possible).
Would you like to work with horses in the Canadian wilderness? Do you like being outside, are you good with people and not afraid to get dirty? Then our guests and the Red Cariboo team look forward to meeting you!
A valid work permit and a SIN number are required for employment with us. More information about “work and travel” in Canada can be found here.
Please keep in mind that we are located in a remote region, Anahim Lake, BC. Take a look at the map and bear that in mind when applying. The nearest town is Williams Lake which is about 320 km away from here. There is limited WIFI at the resort and no cell service.
We try to hire everyone in their own profession. However, applicants must agree to learn and perform activities that are not in their core competencies.
If you feel like you are suitable for this job and would like to work in almost untouched nature, where elk and grizzly bears are around, then we look forward to receiving your application by email (cover letter, CV, picture, certificates etc.).
If you have any questions or would like to have some more information, do not hesitate to contact us any time.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
You work with and on the horses (riding out, working in the riding arena, etc.; see details below). For this voluntary work, we pay an allowance of $1000 per month for your food. Accommodation is provided free of charge. In addition, there is a share of the profits for booked rides and often tips from the guests.
Additional activities may arise in the resort for which we may need your support, such as housekeeping, making/stacking firewood, serving as waiters from summer onwards, simple help in the kitchen, etc. We pay $18.10 for this working time, including statutory holidays, plus 4% holiday pay.
A valid work permit is required.
We also sponsor the Young Professional Work Permit and can help with the PR process.
Salary/Wage
18.10
Other Perks/Benefits
After your shifts or during your weekends you have time to do a lot of sightseeing, hiking, relax at the lake, go fishing in the canoe or you can ride one of our horses after consultation with our horse trainer. During the wintertime, you can go ice fishing, cross country skiing and there is even a small ski hill close by. Everything is possible out here. Having the time of your life is guaranteed! Do you enjoy living and working in the pristine and remote Anahim Lake / BC wilderness region? If you can work in a team, can learn, enthusiasm, commitment, reliability, and friendliness, then please contact us. It is very important to know that your costs of living are much lower in our remote area than in a city like Vancouver or an area with much more infrastructure. All these points make it attractive to keep your savings, and you get lots of benefits, too, like our beautiful nature.
