Job Description
Pappa’s Firehall Bistro, located in downtown Oliver, British Columbia, offers a warm and friendly atmosphere ideal for both group gatherings and intimate evenings. Our menu features Mediterranean-inspired dishes, including fire-grilled chicken and ribs, complemented by a selection of signature cocktails, draught beers, and local wines. As a Kitchen Manager at Pappa’s Firehall Bistro, you will oversee kitchen operations, ensuring the preparation and presentation of high-quality Mediterranean-inspired dishes. This role requires strong leadership skills, and a passion for culinary excellence.
The position is full time (40 hours per week). Must be able to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as necessary.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Responsibilities and duties:
• Manage kitchen operations.
• Establish and implement kitchen procedures.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff and helpers in the preparation, cook & handling of food.
• Train staff in sanitation and safety procedures
• Order ingredients, supplies and maintain kitchen stock.
• Prepare and cook great quality food, quickly and consistently.
• Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment.
• Understand and adhere to proper food handling, safety and sanitation standards.
• Maintain a professional appearance and grooming standards.
• Plan seasonal menus and calculate food and labour costs.
• Develop policies, procedures and budgets.
Requirements:
• Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience managing a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Completion of high school or equivalent
• Post-secondary culinary training is considered an asset
• Food Safe Level 1 Certification required.
• Team player with great attitude
• English is required.
• Able to communicate well with others.
• Well organized, shows sense of urgency and able to track multiple orders and multitask.
• Works well under pressure.
• Experience preparing Mediterranean culinary dishes.
Salary/Wage
35.00/hour
