Our Loss Prevention Supervisor is responsible to safeguard the hotel property and assets, and guard the well-being of guests, employees, and visitors. The Supervisor is to be fully trained to act as the Manager in the event that the Manager of Loss Prevention is unavailable.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Position Requirements:
• Patrol hotel property to ensure the safety of guests and employees and to protect all hotel assets.
• Initiate and follow-up all investigations of crimes committed against property and persons.
• Assist sick and injured guests and employees, ensuring documentation and disposition of reports.
• Answer house calls, assist guests and employees with respect to safety, security and hotel operations.
• Maintain accurate records while performing basic duties including, but not limited to, CCTV monitoring, daily shift activity log, lost & found reporting, and all guest or employee interaction.
• Write detailed daily shift reports, incident & medical reports (WCB, Form-7 & Guest Medical)
• Complete evacuation and emergency response procedures when necessary.
• Comply with WRS’s Occupational Health and Safety Program and the Regulation of WorkSafeBC.
• Ability to provide a satisfactory criminal record check

• Promote the goal of an aligned Loss Prevention Department while balancing the needs and insights of individual Westin Departments.
• Explore varied perspectives and take them into account when looking for solutions to influence quality and executional excellence.

• Acts as a change agent among peers, working to have a deeper understanding of perspectives, experiences, and personalities; proactively guides others towards successful adoption of change, building team alignment and loyalty.

• Positively support the culture by championing new procedures that work towards the goal.
• Be willing to engage and support peers in an informal mentorship capacity, with future to lead in a formalized role.
• Lead by example by actively demonstrating and promoting The Westin by Marriott organizational values.
• Operate with a growth mindset and have courage to accelerate change
• Ability and enthusiasm around the opportunity to influence and impact to lead up, down and across the organization, including engagement with other resorts, businesses and first responders.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively use Microsoft Office, email, and other administrative tools. Willing and able to learn new systems and processes as required.
• Must be able to work in inclement weather.
• Must be available to work nights, holidays and weekends.
• Demonstrates effective communication skills and strong guest service skills.
• Strong decision-making skills
• Demonstrated ability to create effective working relationships inter/intra departmentally.

General Requirements:
• Knowledge of basic Fire, Life & Safety standards/processes.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and a passion for dealing with and emotionally connecting with others.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Possess a valid BC security worker’s license.
• Possess or be willing to attain Occupational First Aid Level 2.
• Ability to work independently and able to remain alert and comfortable handling emergencies in a calm manner while on duty. – Training & support will be provided.
• Have a positive attitude with a professional demeanor.
• Possess excellent multi-tasking, problem-solving, prioritizing and organizational abilities.
• Possess a good understanding of De-escalation strategies and skills. Training provided. Able to lift up to 50lbs.
