Maintenance Person

Job Type: Full-time (40 hours per week), Year-round
Wage: $18-23 per hour, depends on experience and trade certifications
Perks: $500-650 for room and board per month available (prorated every 2 weeks), Northern Tax Allowance (Canada Gov.), staff have opportunities to join one of our premier floatplane tours

About this job
We are looking for a jack-of-all-trades to keep our lodge and property in good condition and be able to assist where problems arise. This job description is not all-inclusive but gives a general overview of what skills are required.

Responsibilities
• Conduct preventative maintenance and keep all buildings in good repair
• General repairs on plumbing, heating and kitchen equipment
• Coordinate tasks with maintenance co-workers
• Repair and remodel buildings
• Perform minor repairs on gas station, electrical systems, plumbing, painting, carpentry
• Basic locksmith and repairing windows, water heaters and pumps for proper operation and record
• Keep daily log updated
• Perform regular maintenance on generators and company vehicles
• Keep inventory of maintenance supplies
• Keep hand tools in working order
• Keep workshops clean and organized
• Respond to after hour calls to attend to breakdowns

This job description is not all inclusive but gives a general overview of what skills are required. Preference will be given to candidates who are able to work independently and have a trade ticket such as; plumbing, electrical or carpentry.
Class 4 Driver’s License a strong asset

Requirements
• Previous experience in the trades e.g. electrician, plumber
• Has a good working command of the English language
• Canadian citizen / permanent resident or has a valid work visa
• British Columbia Class 5 driver’s license (Standard license)

Pluses
• Preference given to candidates who have a trade certificate in plumbing, electrical or carpentry
• British Columbia Class 4 driver’s license (Commercial license)
• Experience in working in the hotel industry as a maintenance person would be ideal
