Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

As a Patrol Supervisor, you will support the Patrol Manager in the execution of all patrol and safety operations while overseeing the patrol and volunteer patrol teams. You are a key member of the Mountain Operations team, ensuring a safe and exceptional experience for all guests and staff at Grouse Mountain.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Supervise and motivate a team of up to 10 staff patrollers and 5 volunteer patrollers
Ensure the safety of mountain staff and guests through proactive injury prevention and incident response
Lead gondola, chairlift and tram evacuation/rope rescue procedures if necessary. Assist with the hiring, orientation and training of new and returning patrol staff
Assist with patrol scheduling to ensure adequate first aid and safety coverage
Lead and assist in the investigations of incidents involving guests or staff
Maintain, inventory and secure all patrol equipment and department facilities
Ensure proper documentation of injuries and incidents
Administer first aid services to injured staff and guests
Educate staff and guests on safety protocols
Act as a safety resource for other departments, fostering a strong safety culture
Participate in and lead emergency response efforts as required
Other duties as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position provides direct supervision to the Patrol, Mountain Safety and Volunteer Patrol Teams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES

Minimum Qualifications:

Advanced-level Mountain Biking skills, with experience riding technical trails and features
High levels of physical fitness to meet the demands of trail patrol, emergency response, and potential bike-assisted rescues
≥80-hour first aid certification, such as:
Occupational First Aid – Advanced
Outdoor Emergency Care
Non-Urban Emergency Care
BC Licensed EMR or PCP
Comfortable working at heights with a basic understanding of rope rescue. Internal training will be provided.
2+ years of patrol experience
Rope rescue experience
Basic knowledge of Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations
Experienced with advanced medical protocols, such as:
Entonox, Sager, Epi-pen, Salbutamol, Nitroglycerin administration
Must successfully complete a criminal record check prior to the start date (Grouse Mountain will assist with the process)

Preferred Qualifications:

BC Licensed EMR or PCP
Rope Access and/or Rescue Certification
Incident Command Structure Training
Incident Investigation Training
Previous supervisory experience in a patrol or safety role

Salary/Wage

24.16/hour to 28.25/hour
