OVERVIEW
The Senior Accountant is responsible for reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. They combine excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles. The ideal candidate also has experience collaborating and/or managing a team of accountants and others as assigned.
This role includes ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks. The incumbent thrives in a fast-paced environment, is able to multi-task and adapts easily to change. They are familiar with all accounting procedures and can manage daily financial transactions end-to-end.
This position is a temporary, full time role until the end of April 2025.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Full-cycle accounting, financial statement preparation, month-end/year-end close including but cash, revenue and expenses.
Maintain the trial balance and general ledger and prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
Identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting and financial reporting processes and lead in the implementation.
Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
Provide technical support and advice for finance team and others.
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
Prepare and remit filings for indirect taxes (GST, PST).
Liaise with auditors to ensure timely completion of audit and mid-year review.
Review work performed by other members of the Finance team.
Support month-end and year-end close process.
Liaise with Accounting Manager and/or Financial Controller to improve financial procedures.
Perform other duties as required.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Post-secondary degree/diploma in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
Accounting designation (or working towards) is an asset
Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in an accounting environment.
Proven experience as an accounting supervisor or senior accountant.
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
In-depth understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
Accuracy and attention to detail
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent communication skills with fluency in English
Hands-on experience with Dynamics NAV is an asset
CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES REQUIREMENTS
Ability to obtain a valid GPEB registration
Ability to complete all BCLC required trainings

$65,000.00 To $75,000.00 Annually
